If you want to meet up to catch a taxi, I recommend heading to the baggage claim area. It is divided into two sections and in between the sections are the stairs, elevators, car rental counters, and a Starbuck's Coffee. I will be at the Starbuck's after I collect my suitcase, and I will PM you a picture so we can meet there.

A slight correction... Delta told me that my flight will now arrive earlier.

So, I'll be arriving on the 19th at 10.45am on Delta 619, from NY-JFK.

It's a good thing I checked my flights a week early because it turns out that AA changed my flight and didn't notify me. The good news is that my departure time is much better. I'll be arriving on June 17 at 4:30PM (instead of 11:15PM).

Hey cowgirl!

Turns out we are renting a car so we'll have an SUV. We're also hauling Rebecca and another friend of hers who get in 30 mins before us (you guys may all be on the same flight, if you're coming in from Baahstan). Anyway, you're welcome to ride with us if you don't mind a bit of a squeeze. 5 of us shouldnt be a problem but if we've all got lots of luggage, there may be some bags on laps. Or skepchicks on laps. Or something :)

Anyway, PM me if you want the ride - we can trade numbers and figure out a meeting place!

Caltrans

Keep checking it and be sure to have alternate routes planned. If you drive through any deserts, schedule the trip so that you are driving through them while the temperature's lower, like in the morning hours. I'm not sure about Mojave desert but in Death Valley they will close roads if it gets too hot, because cars overheat. Of course, it gets around 130 F or better in Death Valley. :eek:
 
I'm arriving on Tuesday 6/17 Southwest #2734 arriving 9:30 PM.

I'm departing on Monday 6/23 Southwest #1538 at 9:00 AM.

I have no transportation planned to the Flamingo so if anyone has a car around that time or wants to split a cab, PM me and we can exchange phone numbners.

About cabs at the airport:

Not the cheapest way to get to the hotel.

There are shuttle buses you can take right outside the baggage claim. Less expensive than cabs but you won't get to the hotel quite as quick.

You can purchase round trip tickets so the bus can also get you back to the airport. I generally don't use them to go back to the airport, however. Had problems with them not being very timely in their arrivals at TAM 2 and used cabs or rides from other people at TAM to get back to the airport.

Yeah, the shuttle bus ticket sellers don't tell you that their buses can be up to a half-hour late before they consider the bus "late". But they do emphasize that if you're not there within five minutes of the bus's arrival, they'll leave.
 
Early arrivers,

Welp, I've been here since yesterday. Any early arrivers down for some drinks or whatever? I'm possibly going out to a punk-rock show tomorrow (Sunday) night at "the dive bar" but can be easily pursuaded to do something closer to the strip and less-close to a punk rock dive bar. I'm free all day-time Monday too.

I'm staying at the Flamingo (in a room that is disconcertingly lit by subdued pink lighting if I hit the wrong button), and have a monorail ticket to deliver me elsewhere on the strip.

I'd be interested in a bar. It is probably much cheaper than the free drinks in the casino.
 
oh, btw, the taxi ride from the airport to the flamingo, with a few minute stop at a liquor store, was $20 with tip.
