TAM Australia

2.5 days of speakers at a top quality inner city venue, with lunch and morning afternoon teas provided. Compared to the many mgt seminars I have been to the cost and venue of TAM Oz was better value by far.

The extra costs I paid for were for the optional dinners/shows. One was a cruise on Sydney Harbour (which provided an opportunity for a very close observation of Randi making serviettes disappear   ) The other was to support the SGU:D.

Oh, and by way of an addition to my previous short post highlights definitely included ......

Geo doing early am karaoke:eek::D :D :D

and to quote "OMFSM Pamela Gay" :)

As Dave the Happy Singer said, it was premium content. It was a bottle of Beck's, not a tinnie of VB. And he was one of the most vocal early complainers about the cost.

It was absolutely worth the money. I could have left on Friday night after Dr Karl and Geo, and still felt like I'd had my money's worth. Seeing Krissie, Simons Taylor and Singh, Pamela Gay, Rob Morrison and getting the chance to chat with each of the SGU Rogues made it even more worth the cost.

I should put in a vote of thanks to Chris H for acting as Randi's bodyguard.

I'm only slightly exaggerating.

Hehehe! Thanks!

Well there's a story ... let us have it then!

Not much of a story to tell, to be honest. The TAM committee called me back in October and told me Randi's PA couldn't make it to Oz, and that they wanted to know if I would do it. There's only one answer to that question, which meant I spent the week of TAM Oz pretty much by Randi's side. Very cool.

I was around for both of these occasions. Did we meet?

lol can't say for sure...

If you were the person with Randi outside the pub when he left the pre Tam meetup, then yes:)

On the boat I met so many ppl and by the time Geo was karaoking it was probably too late to remember:D

Totally cool. What a great way to spend a TAM.

Did he turn you gay?

Dr Karl is on BBC Radio Five Live on a Thursday morning at 03:00 and if I happen to be awake, I listen. In this mornin's programme, he mentioned TAM Australia, so I wonder what part he took there. I've just tried googling, but a window kept coming up with something about 'you must install something or other to get proper Japanese characters' and I couldn't seem to find anything else.

He was a presenter. He did a presentation on a wide range strange facts, and made an argument for renewable energy.

He has some podcasts you can download to listen to at more convenient times. :)

Thank you for your replies. Sounds good - wish I'd been there. Perhaps he could be persuaded to come to London!

Dr. Karl's presentation was so interesting and energetic that I think he packed at least twice as much information per minute into his presentation as the normal presenter.

I should add that he changed my mind about the practicality of solar energy.

I should add that I was exhausted just watching him.

I did manage to exchange a few words with him at the Meet & Greet the night before, although I didn't manage to get him to sign my copy of The Demon-Haunted World.

Interesting, my response to his presentation on solar was that I felt I had tuned in to a late night shopping advertorial. It struck me as being completely out of synch with what had gone before and we were suddenly engulfed in a Gish gallopish type sell campaign. He lost me completely with his presentation on this - irrespective of the actual merits of what he was saying (which I hope were right and which I would support) - for me once he commenced "the sell" was one of the weakest moments of the weekend.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts too. I agreed with what he'd said, but didn't really think it was the time or the place. Although, in spite of that, I still think he was one of the better presenters of the weekend.
