Syria and UN Security Council Decision

Watching Arabs in a heated argument is always funny.

Well, that escalated rather quickly. Other than the "Born of Israeli semen" insult it looks like a common Assad supporter anywhere in the world though.

So back in the day (what was it, 2011?) the Syrian gov't was all like 'these guys are al qaedas'

And everyone was like 'lol whatevs dictator'

and now everyone's like 'holy crap, there are al qaedas in syria'

just saying.

anyhoo

this geneva peace thing

precondition is assad out of power

Kerry's all like 'there is no military solution just a political solution'

but the political solution is identical to the military strategic outcome

basically they're saying 'okay the rebels aren't going to turf the syrian gov't through force of arms, the only solution now is for the gov't to give up'

The west does not want peace.

Because it didn't start off as an Al-Qaeda uprising. They inserted themselves into the chaos and instability as they always do.

The West does not want peace? Then why did they decide a loose coalition of sellouts in Turkey, supposedly connected to the armed groups in Syria, was the legitimate government of Syria ("representatives" of its people anyway)? And as the flip-side, decide by fiat the government actually in charge of the territory and the army and most people behind them, was illegitimate and would be deposed one way or another? And then turned a blind eye as allied nations and enemy terrorist groups, working together, sent their death squads, commuted-sentence death row inmates, purchased peasants and street fanatics, plus money, supplies, and all kinds of weapons?

Of course the normal rules don't apply. None of this is criminal, since Assad started it, he is a dictator, we decided there was this cool, inspirational "Arab Spring" thing a while ago (wasn't that extended into an Arab couplayearsrwhatevea?). And that worked out well in Libya and Egypt, so clearly, it has to happen here.

And there a ton of horrible things happening that we've chosen to believe were done by Assad, not the black-hearted al-Qaeda terrorists crawling in every crack and fissure of Syria by now with blades and no compunction about lying to and manipulating infidels like us. When this many people have been sliced up by Shabiha and stuff, or when it really seems that way, man ... Assad or whoever's really gotta go.

If the FSA falls apart and can't do it, al Qaeda and allies are capable. If that's not acceptable, someone will be found, both to stop them and to overthrow the regime. We're inventive that way.

The latest atrocity, have we discussed it yet? Sniping fetuses in Aleppo, ...

ETA: Moved to its own thread, let's not get any useful discussion buried in this one.

Reuters: "Assad mulls re-election"

Jesus Christ some journalists are stupid.

Virus, do you support democracy in general?

Do you support it for the long-suffering people of Syria?

If not, why not?

Do you also support blocking Bashar al-Assad from running for * re-election by the Syrian people?

If so, why?

* lol, I caught that. re-appointment, whatever, the chance for mass approval to be manifested if it exists, as I think it does.

The "World community" says we want peace in Syria, let's have talks.

Assad says I'm ready to talk. He knows he's winning, still has the support of some majority of Syrians, still commands a professional national army, and is willing to negotiate various things.

"Legitimate"/Opposition Syrians says as soon as someone makes it so we're winning we'll think about it.

Al-Nusra/ISIS/AQ says ... no one asked them, obviously, even as they're collectively the solid #2 force on the field in Syria by now.

Kerry says pre-condition for talks is Assad must step down. Has no such management suggestions for al Qaeda or FSA. SNC might say okay to that, but either way, there's no plan to get both non-satanic parties to talk, together, at the same place.

So, the rebels can keep losing instead of talking, Syria can keep bleeding as the "world community" delays the inevitable, and tallies with muted smiles the hits to Iran and the resistance axis. Splendid.

At least 116,000 people dead by now, probably 150,000+. That includes some scum-bucket traitors or brutes on the other side who deserved it, but mainly people people from both sides we should all feel sorry for. That's besides those injured, widowed/orphaned, displaced, jailed/taken hostage/sex slave, etc. Altogether, the number effected is in the deeper millions by now.

A video has recently surfaced of what is thought to be Hezbollah terrorists executing wounded civilians in Syria.

I only have read what Brown Moses published (someone else's analys actually). Seemed mostly all right and credible. Go find it, I have the link somewhere...

My impression from that and my own insights and biases, is these are some anti-rebel fighters, likely Shi'ite, not SAA and not necessarily Hezbollah (outside possibility, a ways out I think not even watching it: rebel people faking like Hezbollah-types). One prisoner is suspected of killing a particular person they liked. I'm guessing they actually are militant, of the civilian-dress variety used in situation where this kind of end seems likely, so they can be seen as civilians. He's executed. Didn't watch or anything, but it seems 2-3 prisoners total are shot by a couple of hot heads. It's problematic. A war crime. A couple others try to intervene before, during, and after and finally win (edit there). They debate ethics of war, personal revenge vs. legit mission, etc.

There's contention over some specifically Hexbollah audio clues. One guy says they're clearly swiped from another video, this writer doesn't say no but says you can't tell. I meant to check. Otherwise it probably shows what happened, some context missing. The only likely fakery is to narrow it down to Hezbollah, (likely then not who it was, but maybe) by someone who wants to create new problems in Lebanon at this time.

I didn't read that but I doubt any real "analysis" happened as the link suggests. Our page on the most emotive part of this: warning - upsetting images (might be worth changing the images)Starving Children in Moadamiyeh
Some commonsense observations and a bit of supporting research. Nothing conclusive, but my feeling and guess is that certain people in rebel custody are there are sacrificed for this PR ploy. Why not? They're Islamist scum brigades, holding people the hate for some reason. You don't even have to DO anything, just stop feeding them.

As soon as (the worst and most effective and thus most relevant) rebels can no longer take and control human beings, I predict things like this will stop. I had hoped we could test that theory by now.

CL: Not sure why you are shilling for Assad.

"West wants peace."

Yes. The question is, on what terms?
Putin and Assad would like the answer to that, and maybe have it and don't care for it.

And the Chinese just laugh at all these silly people getting all lathered up over a minor civil conflict.

DR: Just calling it like I see it. In my opinion, as soon as enough people see it that way that it becomes policy, the sooner we can see peace for Syria's people.

For what reason should I not see it like that, or not say so?

You either get it or you don't. And if you don't I couldn't be bothered explaining it.

Oksana Boyko is continuing her great interviews over at RT. I wonder how long she will be able to get high-level guests like the longtime ICC chief prosecutor Luis "Gaddafi gave Viagra to his troops so they could better rape Libyan women" Moreno-Ocampo if she continues to unmask them like she did with this despicable little rotten liar...

In another show, she interviews Robert Jordan, post-9/11 US ambassador to Saudi Arabia about the stunning fact that Bandar "Bush" Bin Sultan now seems to try with the US what he tried before with Russia - blackmail.

Certainly not the least informed voice on this. Some other tries at explanation here, here and here. The latter's idea that Bandar doesn't sport the "Bush" nickname without a reason and this is some kind of republican plot to pressure Obama gets some more weight by this piece in Foreign Policy outlining what kind of nasty things Saudi Arabia could do to hurt the United States...

On the ground, it seems like Turkey feels the backlash enough to break with said Saudi goons and call the regime change attempt a lost game ... while Brahimi travels the Middle East talking to almost everyone trying to get someone to play opposition at a Geneva II conference, with the SNC 1.0 saying "certainly not" and the SNC 2.0 saying "likely not" and the FSA completely dismantling after the SAA continues with one after the other strategic victory on the ground, the latest one being the retaking of Al-Safira in the south-east of Aleppo, reopening supply routes they will need to finally drive the scum out of Aleppo ... towards a Turkish border which might hold another surprise for them.

Kerry on despot tour to reassure

He's busy boot-licking and telling his wonderful democracy-loving friends in Riad that the current differences are just "tactical".

John 'Blatant Liar' Kerry said:
We will be there for Saudi Arabia, for the Emirates, for Qataris, for the Jordanians, for the Egyptians and others. We will not allow those countries to be attacked from outside. We will stand with them.

Even the Egyptians...

The author tries to deduce what this means for the War On Syria, but IMO there is no reason to assume that those statements are more honest than the drivel Kerry spouts in other venues. That's the problem dealing with a pathological liar.

"Rare CNN Report: How al-Qaeda Militants Get Smuggled into Syria via Turkey"

LOL. November 2013 and they call that an "exclusive". Pretending it is something new and surprising. Two years too late, guys, two years in which you spread the fantasy tales of the likes of "Syrian Danny" to your clueless audience and made yourself complicit in the amount of propaganda covering what really went on in this "civil war" and therefore in the amount of blood-letting made possible through the confusion. While everyone who payed attention to real information was aware of what was going on in Hatay since the story broke in late 2011. Clowns.

SITE has rendered found a new tape wherein Uncle Zawahiri orders the dismantling of ISIL/ISIS and declares Al-Nusra to be the only legitimate franchise in Syria! Al-Baghdadi and Al-Jawlani both dun goofed up, he says. That means the level of infighting will further go up. Allahu Akbar!
