StopSylviaBrowne.com

Dear Sylvia,

I'm eligilble to retire from my gummint job right this very minute. I mean, I could call up my boss right now and tell him not to expect me in next week, and I could start collecting my gummint pension.

Thing is, Mrs. BPSCG has a good job and all, but we wouldn't quite be able to make ends meet on her salary and my pension just yet. We calculate the end of 2008.

What I'm wondering is, I'm thinking of maybe going into another lucrative line of work. I figure I could do it part time and rake in a hell of a lot of money. What I'd like to do is tell people I'm a psychic and that I can talk to their dead relatives and get messages from them and give them all kinds of life lessons and good advice like "Go see a doctor about that terrible itching and your inability to see out of your right eye and for your kidneys pain," you know, that kind of thing. I figure it doesn't take much talent; I keep reading about people who learn to do this stuff in a couple of hours. I've seenyou on Montel, and I think I could pick up what you do in a couple of hours.I figure I'll charge them like $250.00 for a reading. I hear some psychics charge as much as $700, but when I read some of the mail people send these psychics, I figure they probably live in a trailer in the Ozarks or something, and they really can't afford the $700, but they might be able to pony up the $250. So there's an untapped market there, I think.

Plus, when word gets around that I give advice that's just as useful and helpful as the $700 psychics, maybe I'll get all their business and put them out of work! Hah! Wouldn't that be a riot!

Anyway, I was just wondering if you could get in touch with my dead grandfather and find out what he says about this. He might be a little difficult to get hold of, since, by all accounts, he was not a nice guy and is probably in Hell, unlike most of the dead people you talk with, who all - all - seem to be "in a better place, and happy." If I could retire two years early, well, that would be just great.

Fondly, (you filthy piece of ◊◊◊◊),

BPSCG

PS: Please say "Hi" to Thorn-Cocked Gulbuth the Rampant when you get to Hell, which can't happen soon enough.

From her official site:
The only complete truth you will read regarding quotes and statements purportedly made by Sylvia Browne is within this website and those of Hay House, Penguin-Putnam, and Angelbea Publishing. There have been a disturbing number of misquotes on various other websites citing various statements Sylvia has made either on the radio, on the Montel Show, or in news publications that are simply not true. To clarify any information you have heard or read about Sylvia Browne from any other source that does not appear on this site, please email us directly at office@sylvia.org for a truthful response.
Pay no attention to the Truth behind the curtain!
If someone were to email sylvia.org to clarify the "truth" behind any of Sylvia's many missteps, and were able to catch the official responder in a lie, is that exchange allowed to be publically presented on a website?

I believe that you can reprint whatever you want as long as you don't make the person you're talking to think that you'll keep it in confidence. As least, that's what Law & Order told me :D

Speaking of Stumbling...

I've added the site to stumbleupon, which seems to be becoming pretty popular these days. Now, someone can truly stumble upon it. (:

And how did you stumble? Did you accidentally register, login and make 11 posts?

Taking a break from designing the site to try out a new avatar. Needs some text, but you get the gist of it.

It could be that she's well-intentioned but deluded. Just saying.
Yes, a bit of a false dichotomy I suppose. As I said earlier, the current Info page was just a quick hack. But thanks for pointing it out.

Depending on how you set up the site, you might end up limiting your options. So if you are realtively certain that there will be a search, you should consider that during the initial setup. (Unless, of course, you won't mind doing things all over again at a later stage...)
Understood, thanks.

OK, I added a link in the UK Skeptics forum, and John Jackson says he's going to plug the site in his commentary soon.

I've also added it to the JREF forum links section - Rob, let me know if you want any changes to the description!
Thanks for both! After I have the final version of an intro page, I might ask you to hange your description to whatever it ends up saying. Thanks again!

Pay no attention to the Truth behind the curtain!
:)

Get on with it!!
I'm working on it!!!

Kudos btw.
Thanks. And point taken. :)

A noble and worthy cause, sir. I shall add your site to my links page.
Thanks, Hazen!

I read through the bathos(pathos) in the following with utter horror.
Yes, I had come across that as well. Extremely sad, and angering. It keeps me going. Thanks.

RS - Richard Saunders was kind enough to interview me for his podcast at http://www.mysteryinvestigators.com I plugged your site. Yippee! :D
Excellent Remie - thanks!

Something for the SkepticWiki?
You mean, to add to the SB page? Suonds like a good idea.

good question Blackwell. One I will need toresearch.

Thanks, sillyhead!

What an eye-catching new avatar, Robert.

I like that it stays within the stop sign scheme, so that I don't miss your posts. (I'm one of those who identifies the person by glancing at the avatar.)

The fingernails are a very nice touch. (but not in real life)

It's true. :)

Sylvia Browne without makeup?

A couple of things real quick

Luke is right, Tiffany hasn't been reported found. Also, another psychic worked on it. Can't post urls yet, but google tiffany sessions john monti. Nice article by a skeptic.

Reime, there's a sweeet recorder I use to do prank calls with at radio shack. I can't find it on their site right now, but it's called Recorder Control, and you can create .wav files with it (probably other formats too, depending on the software you use). It's 26 bucks I think. Just make sure your phone has a jack for it (most of them do these days, I just remember getting home with it a few years ago, and going DOH, because I had an old phone with no jack).

I'll add the site to my sig soon's I get past 15 posts. Annnd, blogged. (:

Thanks, sillyhead! Now quickly, everyone send money!

Okay, not really. Instead, as soon as I can, I will pay for a Sylvia psychic reading and vomit the whole way through.

God. You are a brave person. Braver than me. If people still died of apoplexy, I think I would.

be sure to have some fun with the site too.

I really think a "seperated at birth?" part would be fun.
