Another day, another DC Mall Crowd Controversy.
I don't blame the DC police and National Park officials for not wanting to make crowd estimates . When it is a political event, no matter what estimates they make they get blasted.

Depending on the political event. the possibility of getting "blasted" is a risk the National Park Service is more than willing to take.

"Reversing a 13-year-old policy, the National Park Service said Monday that it will offer an official crowd estimate for today's presidential inauguration to determine whether the event will set a record."

Just change a couple of words, and this could come straight out of the mouth of a Tea Party Fanatic.

Thaiboxerken "Yes"

A lot like a fanatic ,very myopic.

I am being driven insane by the atitude that is so common in the Politics forum that "Everyone on my side is intelligent and/or reasonable, but Everyone on the other side is stupid and/or crazy".
In other words, all the extremists are on the OTHER side.

Dudalb, I am driven insane by that too. However, the one thing that annoys me more is obsessive, holier-than-thou fence sitters.

Please climb off it once in a while before your arse splits in half.

TO correct myself:The Andy Griffith Charecter in "A Face In the Crowd" is called "Lonesome Roads" Not Dusty Rivers. For some damn reason, despite loving the film, I keep on making this mistake....

Yes.

Prejudicial hypocrisy much? What happened to judging each person as an individual? Do you also have a problem with blacks, Latinos, or Muslims living next to you, or is it just conservatives that you are prejudiced against?

Just once, I'd like to see a definition of "Conservative" which has more of a basis in reality, rather than as a convenient catch-all for greed, stupidity, and intellectual cowardice.

As I understand it it airphotoslive took the pictures and then sent them to three different experts who came up with three figures the average being 87K with a 9K + or -.

Yup, that's how I read it as well. If true, that would be under Beck's minimum attendance of 100,000.

No doubt the same experts CBS used to authenticate the Lt. Col. Jerry B. Killian documents regarding Bush 43.

OK. You win. Let's just ignore the 87,000 estimate for the time being. Please present the reasoning or the methodology behind any estimate above 600,000 people. Please present any reason at all we should believe that there were more than 600,000 people there. Please show that any estimate above 600,000 is objective in any sense of the word.

Me, too. I think part of the problem stems from a tendency for groups to co-opt terms for their own use, be it positive or negative, and then to insist their new definitions gain acceptance.

If the greedy, stupid, cowardly, anti-intellectuals weren't so insistent on defining "conservative" as limited only to those who were in lockstep with their beliefs then the term may not have suffered so much in recent years. The expression "RINO" is not a pejorative coined by liberals.

It is interesting, in a mildly ironic sense, to note that the wiki article on "RINO" includes in its "See also" links both "No true Scotsman" and "Tea Party movement". :p

I blame that phenomenon on the conservative movements of whatever flavor in the USA right now. They have allowed factions which display these characteristics to hijack their various groups just to gain a few voters.

The GOP courteds the racists and religious whackjob and fed money to the oligarchists.

I don't have time to listen to their whining about how the public reacts to the cooties they picked up.
