I would like to know why Glen Beck doesn’t know Martin Luther King was a communist?

MLK was not a communist, he was a Christian and critic of communism. However, he was a progressive who wanted the government to play a big role in righting wrongs. IOW, his views were diametrically opposed to Beck's.

eta:
While King was firmly opposed to communism -- considering it to be "basically evil" -- he credited it with leading him to "a growing concern about social justice."

From this article.

I was disappointed with Beck's speech. I thought even a lunatic such as he could not fail to look and stand statesmanlike in the shadow of Lincoln and King. Instead he was reminiscent of a elderly tech guy wandering around the stage before the band came in.

No podium at the Lincoln memorial? Really..

ETA: The 'America has begun to turn back to God' was a surprise. I didn't know he was theocratic too. I just assumed he was mostly committed to lower taxes and stuff like that.

Does anyone know if Beck has gotten specific at all about this? I've heard a lot of vague platitudes but I'm wondering if he has any specific policies or whatever that he's promoting.

He's promoting himself. He's always promoting himself or Goldline.
Only difference is this time he's claiming that God is speaking through him.

From another thread, I said this:

<snip> where's the real injustices being rallied against here? That really rich people don't want to pay some taxes? Corporations don't want regulations calling for accountability and blocks against fraud? These aren't social injustices. These are not in any form similar to the Civil Rights rallies and marches 40 years ago. No one is being fire-hosed by police because of corporate regulations and taxes. No one is being lynched because of what he's talking about. This is nothing but opportunism and self-promotion with little to no substance. Beck already has the freedom to have his national media punditry; he can live to whatever ideals he wants; he can preach to whatever he wants. If he really wanted to make a difference why isn't this a rally to support Habitat for Humanity or Doctors Without Borders or something that actually DOES make a difference?

Whenever I watch Beck's show I end up wondering if there's anything he's not wildly wrong on. He just makes up American history as he goes, based on half-truths what he wants to be true.

Heh, vague and without measurable goals.

I could watch the whole thing, I think he has been stuck in a loop for a while about God.
