Sean Manchester - Vampire Hunter

For a rebuttal to Guiley's entry by a (presumed) representative of the Vampire Research Society, see "Vampirologist"'s response here.

Well, I certainly want to take 'vampirologist' seriously after this:
Jon King, editor of UFO Reality, was to provide one possible answer. In June 1996 he published the following revelation in his magazine:

'Using techniques developed in the Seventies and Eighties (as part of the "psychic warfare" programme) a clandestine working group, comprising high-ranking officials from various US intelligence departments - CIA, DIA, NSA, Military Intelligance etc - was formed to undermine any serious research into [paranormal] phenomena. At the same time this group was authorised to gather as much intelligence as its operatives were able to glean. ... This group is still active today. It is allegedly known as Aviary.'

Jon King identifies Guiley as an Aviary operative, code name Oriel or Morning Dove.

I double-checked this, to make sure you were right. The closest thing one could allude to referring to Manchester's (or Farrant's, for that matter) involvement in the case is the descriptor, "self-proclaimed VAMPIRE HUNTERS".

I'm not sure why the encyclopedia entry was over-simplified in this manner.

For others interested in reading the relevant extract mentioned by The Vampire, from Rosemary Ellen Guiley's The Encyclopedia of Vampires, Werewolves, and Other Monsters, read it here, on my forum (reproduced with kind permission from the author herself).

For a rebuttal to Guiley's entry by a (presumed) representative of the Vampire Research Society, see "Vampirologist"'s response here.

Preceding it, is a remarkably similar review by Veritas, which appears under the title of "An encyclopedia that sadly misinforms".
The reason why is very simple to understand. The ever patient Rosemary Ellen Guiley will not longer discuss anything connected to Manchester because of his harassment of everyone who crosses his path.

Highgate was a publicity stunt anyway. What's to mention?

Publicity stunts aplenty: at one point revelers apparently placed a corpse into the passenger seat of a car parked in Swains Lane.

Banned!

I couldn't read the grand statement by the Vampire Fiction Society, as mentioned in post 820. The page is strangely blank.

Can someone tell me what is says?

Here. She'd say more, but her CIA paymasters won't let her.

Highgate Vampire¹ Episodes of alleged vampire activity reported in Highgate Cemetery in north London. The case reached a peak in the media in the early 1970s, but reports of vampire activity occured for years.
Consecrated in 1839, Highgate Cemetery is famous for its Victorian crypts and tombs, which lend it a spooky atmosphere. Rumours of ghosts and dark figures moving about the CEMETERY at night are a permanent part of its history.

The Highgate Vampire case began around 1967 with reports of a phantom figure seen gliding about the older, western side of the cemetery at dusk. Dead animals, mostly foxes and other nocturnal creatures, began to appear in nearby Waterlow Park and the cemetery. The animals reportedly were lacerated around the throat and drained of blood. In February 1970, the local press speculated on the presence of a vampire, and suddenly the "Highgate Vampire" was a sensation.

A massive vampire hunt by self-proclaimed VAMPIRE HUNTERS was organized for the night of Friday, March 13, 1970. Hundreds of vampire hunters invaded the cemetery, armed with wooden STAKES, GARLIC and CROSSES. No vampire was found, but the cemetery suffered vandalism and theft damages amounting to £9,000 to £10,000. The vandals left behind graffiti and the exhumed remains of a female CORPSE, and stole lead from COFFINS.

As lurid stories fueled more interests, vampire hunters and the curious continued to enter the cemetery at night. In 1974, a group of vampire hunters claimed they had found the vampire and had destroyed it, but others disputed this.

In October 1975, the Friends of Highgate Cemetery was formed to protect the interests of Highgate Cemetery as a national monument and historical burial ground., to represent the interests of grave owners, to secure public access to the grounds and to sponsor conservation of the cemetery. To discourage occult activity and vandalism, the cemetery was closed at night and access was severely restricted.

From 1977 to 1980, mysterious animal deaths were reported in the areas near Highgate Cemetery. The bodies of pets and various small wild animals were found with wounds in their throats. It was speculated that dogs or wild animals were the culprits, but the "vampire theory" also stayed in circulation.

Oh. They just reprinted her entry. Hmm. I was expecting hysterics out of the "Vampirologst" for the exclusion of the bishop. :D

No, Not Banned at All

Just to clarify something here, I provided four links in my post (820). Not sure which one you mean was from the "Vampire Fiction Society".

Let's see which one you are referring to:

1.
For others interested in reading the relevant extract mentioned by The Vampire, from Rosemary Ellen Guiley's The Encyclopedia of Vampires, Werewolves, and Other Monsters, read it here, on my forum (reproduced with kind permission from the author herself).
That's a link to an extract on my forum, Did a Wampyr Walk in Highgate?. It's a reproduced (with permission) extract from Guiley's book. The same one that CLD reproduced in post #826.
It's not from the "Vampire Fiction Society", however. I think he was a tad confused.

Either way, the content is still there.

2.
For a rebuttal to Guiley's entry by a (presumed) representative of the Vampire Research Society, see "Vampirologist"'s response here.
That one's still there too. It's a forum posting on The Highgate Vampire message board. As you will note from clicking on the link (presuming your page doesn't mysteriously go blank again), the content is completely different to what CLD posted.

3 & 4.
Preceding it, is a remarkably similar review by Veritas, which appears under the title of "An encyclopedia that sadly misinforms".
The Veritas link is to a reviewer on Amazon. It covers the other books they have reviewed on Amazon. The second link is to his review of Guiley's The Encyclopedia of Vampires, Werewolves, and Other Monsters. As I noted, it is very "similar" to "Vampirologist"'s post on The Highgate Vampire message board.

Your suspicion to somehow being banned (despite the other page being open to viewing by others), reminds me of this.

I hope that puts an end to the "conspiracy". ;)

Where do you get "conspiracy"? Vampire406 was not suggesting any "conspiracy", just saying the page did not load, possibly a browser problem.

All links work for me. I may have reprinted the wrong link here previously. The comments by Vampire Fiction Society (<---humor) more or less report the UFO guy's remarks about Guiley:

'In the early Nineties [when she met Seán Manchester] Guiley was fully operational in the Aviary's attempts to ridicule and undermine civilian ... research. ... Her mission was to learn what they knew about the phenomenon, and to establish full listings of "who was who" within said research fraternity. This was achieved, for the most part, by sexual advance and intimate dialogue situations. Guiley was eventually rumbled three years into her mission, immediately following which she 'disappeared' back to the USA.'

So....according to this, Secret Agent Guiley obtained info by "sexual advance" with the Bishop? ("Intimate dialogue" I assume means 'pillow talk'.) Gosh, I wonder if The Saint, Charlies Angels, and 007 were involved....:)

I have indeed been reading what you all wrote (and carefully), otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to answer your questions – or tried to answer them.

Basically what you and Cuddles seem to be asserting, is that you can’t prove the existence of something this must automatically mean that it doesn’t exist. I simply don’t agree with this, that’s all.

As a psychic investigator, I investigate the paranormal, but I certainly look for proof (as far as possible) in the cases I investigate. If no ‘material’ proof is available, I do not automatically assert . . . “All these reports and accounts about psychic phenomena are definitely untrue because there is nothing that can be put into a test tube and ‘measured’”

No. It is not like that at all. Disprove the fakes and the phonies, by all means (I agree with that), but I just feel that there is much more to life than ‘cold icy facts’.

We all dream. These dreams are real in that we experience them. But you can’t measure a dream in a test tube, can you?!

David Farrant

Hi David.
I've been away so long I hardly knew the place!
I see you are still here though!

You say "As a psychic investigator, I investigate the paranormal, but I certainly look for proof (as far as possible) in the cases I investigate. If no ‘material’ proof is available, I do not automatically assert [that it is definitely untrue]"
Have you ever found ANY proof?
If none has ever been found (as one suspects), what do you assert then?
If any has been found, please present it.

You say you feel that there is much more to life than cold icy facts.
There sure is! Don't forget all the warm facts!
Were you perhaps bitten by a nasty scientist as a child?

Yes banned, fella.

Again, humor flies over your head.

Overseer fella, when I click the link to The Highgate Vampire board, I get the message: Sorry, you have been banned from this forum. I hope this clarifies whatever point you are trying to make about my comment. FYI- Most forums are still viable to others when someone else has been banned.

CLD, I think that was just a bit of projection on the part of the Overseer fella. :bs:

The man is a fruitcake. Manchester has harassed Alex Lucard until Live Journal suspended his account. Lucard is suing Live Journal now over the debacle. Manchester's problem with the man is, if you spell Lucard backwards and add an "a", it spells Dracula. Go figure.
So, A. Lucard= Dracula? Sound reasoning, of the kind found in Hammer Horror movies. BTW, an anagram of S. Manchester is "screams, then?"
:D

Anagrams of "Sean Manchester" are "enhances stream", "enema snatchers" and "enter sane chasm". I think that speaks volumes.

To CLD and The Vampire

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold your horses!

Where do you get "conspiracy"? Vampire406 was not suggesting any "conspiracy", just saying the page did not load, possibly a browser problem.
~ CLD, #829.

Thanks for coming to her rescue, Gallant White Knight. I'm sure she needed it...

You'll note, however, that I originally put "conspiracy" in talking marks, not necessarily meaning that I was quoting her (never said I was), but that I was attempting a simple denouement in a humorous manner. Get a grip.

If the inability of the page to load was merely a browser problem, then why announce being unable to view it to the forum, accompanied by a look of mock surprise at this and "the page being strangely blank". Surely you could pick up on the slightly "sinister" (oops, did it again!) implications of that statement. Oh, and what was her post called again? Oh yeah..."Banned".

Again, humor flies over your head.
~ The Vampire, #831.

I was trying to clarify which source you meant. That's all.

If you had mentioned that in the first place, we could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble! :D Instead, we got "strangely blank" (note: no mention of accompanying message).

Looks like you were just looking for a rise...or could it be the mechanizations of another "conspiracy"...

As to: "Most forums are still viable to others when someone else has been banned." No ****?

CLD, I think that was just a bit of projection on the part of the Overseer fella.
~ The Vampire, #832.

You wish. ;)

I like "enema snatchers." It has a ring to it. :D

"Enema Snatchers" it is! :)

How so?

If the inability of the page to load was merely a browser problem, then why announce being unable to view it to the forum, accompanied by a look of mock surprise at this and "the page being strangely blank". Try again.

If you had mentioned that in the first place, we could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble! :D Instead, we got "strangely blank" (note: no mention of accompanying message).

Read the post title again. You're getting warmer.

Looks like you were just looking for a rise...or could it be the mechanizations of another "conspiracy"...

Projecting again.

As to: "Most forums are still viable to others when someone else has been banned." No ****?
