Sarah Palin Quits Halfway Through...Again!

Most famous people or politicians rightly get excused as their presence is disruptive. Also most trials last for a day or two.
Yes, but Real Americanstm would never use their celebrity to get out of their civic duty dontyaknow. And clearly Ms. Palin is such a paragon of duty that she would never shirk her civic responsibilities. I am certain that there was a very compelling reason preventing her from completing her term as Governor.

If the trial last more than a week, she'll ...

wait for it ...

quit.

The Palin/Press relationship is fascinating, indeed. It's like they're her abused spouse. She keeps slapping them around, telling them that they're worthless, but they just come back for more, they can't stay away.

And then on her end, she benefits enormously from the free PR (financially more than politically), and it's not like she tried to keep her bus tour a secret. She requests, even demands their presence, but then she rips on them.

It kind of reminds of a certain high school social dynamic. In order to gain popularity, there will often be one person that just goes after a specific target (this happens with men and women). They mock and humiliate them, usually with a group of onlookers present, to build their own popularity with that group. Within the context of the larger group, the abuser has to denounce and ridicule the victim, but without the victim the abuser would lose the primary means of distinguishing themselves.

Palin does the same thing, "I hate this goddamn media...hey, media, get over here---yeah, these are the people I hate."

It's so bizarre. And on top of that, was anyone wondering, "hey, whatever happened to Sarah Palin's bus tour," before the story broke that she called it off? I had just forgotten about it.

I predict she will make a late entry into the race, steal a qualified/more deserving person's spot, and get far more attention than she deserves.

Who's up for a wager?

So, the tour abruptly stopped and she went back to Alaska - but the media was wrong when they said it was canceled. Hmm. I predict some fun jokes a year from now when it still hasn't started up again about how it still isn't canceled and she'll be continuing the tour any day now. Speaking of predictions...

I predict she will make a late entry into the race, steal a qualified/more deserving person's spot, and get far more attention than she deserves.

Who's up for a wager?

I will take that hypothetical wager. I don't think that she'll actually run at all, I don't think she'll "steal" anyone's spot let alone someone more deserving, and... okay, well, that last bit is already true.

Bet you a dollar.

I'll take part of that bet, with no hopes of collecting.

1. While no intellectual giant, Palin is no fool either. She's making a lot of money out of politics. Lots. Of. Money.
2. I don't know how much Fox pays her, but they made potential candidates quit the network. She and Huckabee did not. Depending on her book sales, PAC money, other TV deals, speaking fees, etc., she's not gonna kill any golden geese.

I'm assuming you mean she will win the nomination?

If so, I'll take that wager. Loser donates $100 to JREF. Agreed?

They went with some old Republican white guy? There really isn't a difference between the parties anymore. :(

Oh my. What an...er...'objective'...piece of...er...'reporting'. Especially that meter-cracking reference to the "lamestream media". Oh, the lameness of the hypocrisy. And just look at the stir it's drummed up here in the Palin-watch forum.

Can't you people find a scarier boogy-bear than Palin to shake at us? We're getting bored here. Surely there's some commie bastard somewhere who dreams of slaughtering 20 million of us before imposing his sick version of a commie paradise? You know, something really scary. Not like a Christer governor running for president. Or threatening to run for president, or quitting in the middle of threatening to run for president, or whatever. I mean, I'm sure that scares the crap out of the average progressive academic whose overwrought imaginations turn to dreadful thoughts of The Palin Reich, but I'm just not feeling it, you know?

Because I'm a realist. I know that, even if she did somehow miraculously win the presidency, she would immediately receive "the briefings", just as all starry-eyed neophyte presidents do. You can be sure that, after that series of eye-opening, star-snuffing revelations (to which none of you will ever be privy), she would end up doing little more than perpetuating Obama's policies, just as Obama before her has ended up largely perpetuating the policies of Bush before him.

There are, undoubtedly, reasons for the general, oft-lamented continuity of White House policy, which continues, lightly embellished, almost irrespective of the Oval Office occupant. I've no doubt that many of those reasons are best left unknown to the faint of heart.

I don't know exactly what it is that puts that grey hair on the presidents' heads. But whatever it is, I'm sure it's more than enough to keep Mrs. Palin in line, even if your worst fears come to fruition.

There ain't gonna be no Palin Reich. No need to worry your pretty little heads, or try to worry mine. You see, if Palin turned out to be actually crazy enough to try to get down to it with the irrationally-feared Christo-Nazism, soldiers would cut her down. It's specified in the oath every member of the armed services swears, a Sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of all power-mongering politikers. This is something American politikers must live with. The final check and balance.
