Cont: Roe v Wade overturned - this is some BS part II

Oh, Jesus H. Christ! NO DOCTOR IS GOING TO PERFORM THAT PROCEDURE ON A FULL-TERM HEALTHY FETUS BECAUSE A WOMAN DOESN'T WANT THE BABY! It's used in cases where the mother's life is at risk or the fetus has developmental anomalies incompatible with life. How many ******** times do you have to be told that?

There are several states where there is no time limit when you can have an abortion, nor do they restrict third trimester abortions to protecting the mothers life or health..

"THIRD TRIMESTER (28 WEEKS TO BIRTH)
While it may be illegal in most states to carry out an abortion in the third trimester, the federal law deems it legal to receive an abortion even in the ninth month of pregnancy, and all states will allow this for certain exceptions such as when it is deemed medically necessary for the life of the mother.

Hypertension was mentioned above, but there are other such medical complications that may bring about the need for an abortion at this stage, such as the development of cancer. If the mother develops cancer and can’t receive treatment unless an abortion is performed, it is deemed admissible by law in most states.

LABOR INDUCTION:
This method is available after 16 weeks up to end of full-term pregnancy.

....At this point, after the cervix is softened, medicine will be injected into the abdomen to reach the amniotic fluid, or the umbilical cord of the fetus to terminate the pregnancy. ...."

Oh look, I found an abortion clinic that will provide abortion services up to the 31st week.

That's halfway through month 8.

"If you are between 26 weeks and 31 weeks 6 days into your pregnancy, we can see you. You do not need a referral for these services."

Oh, look...it says they will SEE the woman. It does NOT say the will perform the procedure on a perfectly healthy fetus. Has it occurred to you that they will see the woman in order to determine WHY she may need a termination that late in her pregnancy? For example, she may live in a state that will not allow her to receive a termination for any reason.

Keep denying. There are some clinics in the USA that will provide abortion services very late in the pregnancy. Past week 28. Deal with it.

Available or legal and actually performing the procedure are different things.

And? Read the highlighted. It's for the health of the mother, not just because she wants an abortion.

Your strawmanning is tiresome. You distort what is said as in "So there is no science behind the view that a baby is viable outside the womb after the 24th week?" and "So you never heard of intact dilation & extraction?"

When it's pointed out that your 'gotcha' isn't a 'gotcha' at all, you resort to

"Keep denying. There are some clinics in the USA that will provide abortion services very late in the pregnancy. Past week 28. Deal with it."

OF COURSE, there are clinics that will perform post week 28 abortions because sometimes they are MEDICALLY NECESSARY! You have yet to provide a single one that will abort a healthy fetus post 28 weeks just because the woman decides she doesn't want it! Deal with it.

I'm out of this as discussion as there's no use in :bwall

"health of the mother" can include mental health. This includes to prevent anxiety and depression.

Again this is only legal in about seven states. No legal limits on when a fetus can be terminated, including in the 9th month to protect the mother's mental health.

Yes, abortions even in the 9th month are legal in seven states. Legal to protect the mother's mental health. It doesn't happen very often there are probably only about a couple hundred a year.

But they do happen and I have shown several abortion clinics that will perform it.

Strawman. These clinics probably only perform late abortions if the child will die, be terribly deformed or ill, or to protect the life or health of the mother, but this includes mental health like anxiety and depression.

Oh Jesus Christ. You don't know if those third trimester abortions were performed because of mental health issues. Seems unlikely to me. But sure, that is a possibility, but what are we talking about? One in a thousand? One in ten thousand? One in fifty thousand?

Im not saying how many, only that its legal and allowed under state law.

I imagine it would be pretty difficult to find out how many abortions after week 24 take place to protect the mother's mental health, especially since such information is probably protected by HIPAA.

There were 930,000 abortions in the USA in 2020.

Around 1% of them were 3rd trimester.

I'm sorry but it appears to be a fact that women often get third trimester abortions for reasons other than to protect their life, health or if the child will be in terrible shape.

https://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2019/mar/07/abortion-late-term-what-pregnancy-stage

Women sometimes choose to have a late-term abortion because the pregnancy poses a threat to their health or there are fetal medical conditions. But some women also have late-term abortions simply because they were unable to access one earlier due to difficulty in getting a referral or insurance problems. Studies have found this is particularly true for poorer women.

Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run.....

Right. That would mean 9,300 occur between the 27th week and the 40th week. That total is about 20 percent the number of homicides or the number of vehicle fatalities that occur annually.

The real question is how many happen in the 28th or 29th or 30th weeks etc. My bet is it is a descending logarithmic progression.

I don’t think we should get our panties in a twist over something extremely rare. Any legislation is an overreaction.
