Cont: Roe v Wade overturned - this is some BS part II

https://www.kff.org/womens-health-policy/fact-sheet/abortions-later-in-pregnancy/

Non-Medical Reasons: Individuals seek abortions later in pregnancy for a number of reasons. As part of the Turnaway study out of the University of California San Francisco, from 2008-2010 over 440 women were asked about why they experienced delays in obtaining abortion care, if any (Figure 2). Almost half of individuals who obtained an abortion after 20 weeks did not suspect they were pregnant until later in pregnancy, and other barriers to care included lack of information about where to access an abortion, transportation difficulties, lack of insurance coverage and inability to pay for the procedure.

Right. That would mean 9,300 occur between the 27th week and the 40th week. That total is about 20 percent the number of homicides or the number of vehicle fatalities that occur annually.

The real question is how many happen in the 28th or 29th or 30th weeks etc. My bet is it is a descending logarithmic progression.

I don’t think we should get our panties in a twist over something extremely rare. Any legislation is an overreaction.

Any legislation? Ok.

Many people disagree.

you should be against a majority telling women what they can and can't do with their body.
Or do you think we should be able to demand that a specific group of people give up one kidney because we can get a democratic majority for that?

A kidney is not a viable human being that can survive independently. And why do you oppose democracy?

The person giving up the kidney is a viable human being. So is the proposed recipient. Does the recipient's need for a kidney to live override the donor's consent?

Your analogy is absurd.

Banning late abortions doesn't force anyone to do anything for anyone's benefit. Forced organ donations, does.

One is a forced act, one prevents an act.

Forcing someone to give birth for the benefit of ideologs is no force?

I guess we don't have to wonder whether you ever asked a woman for her opinion

At least a kidney can do some objective good.
Forcing births is just so some people can appease their Sky Daddy

Majority of Americans support legal restrictions during the third trimester.

Are you against democracy?

Ahh democracy. The tyranny of the majority. A majority of citizens of Alabama, Mississipp, Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas etc thought it was ok to own people as property. A majority of them created laws that kept that minority second class citizens for two hundred years. A majority of Americans made it against the law for some people to marry who they wanted until recently.

Funny, I thought the Left was all about more direct Democratic control and our govt respecting the will of the People.

I guess not today.

Funny, I thought the right was against government overreach and keeping said government out of peoples personal lives.

I guess not today.

Banning Abortion on Demand during the 7th, 8th and 9th month of pregnancy isn't "forcing" anyone to do anything. Its following the logic of Roe v Wade which everyone used to love.

It's forcing a woman to carry a fetus to term under threat of law from the state.
If R.vs W. says: "We Ban Abortion on Demand during the 7th, 8th and 9th month of pregnancy" then it should be tossed.

Abortion is a health care issue not a moral or legal issue that needs any involvement of the state.

Roe v Wade disagreed.

Most Americans disagree, and accept some legal limitations on abortions during the third trimester.

Only extremists seem to believe there should be no legal limits whatsoever on when abortion on-demand can take place.

Thank God there are only maybe a couple dozen clinics in the USA willing to perform abortions during the 8th and 9th month.

Notice the highlighted strawmanning: apparently, if you don't agree with the majority of Americans on this issue, you are against democracy. :wide-eyed

You can't have five wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for dinner.

Individual rights are essential to a democratic republic.

Thank God there are only maybe a couple dozen clinics in the USA willing to perform abortions during the 8th and 9th month, providing health care to women.

Only extremists seem to believe women aren't capable of making their own health care decisions.

THE HELL IT AIN'T!

You're forcing a woman to remain pregnant. You're forcing her to give birth. You have made her chattel. A slave to your ideas and morals instead of allowing her to choose what to do with her life and body.

No, we are talking about allowing a woman to do whatever she wants to her own body, until it affects a viable human being inside of her.

Roe v Wade.
