Cont: Roe v Wade overturned - this is some BS part II

One thing Trump did was allow the white supremacist males to come out from under the rocks, no matter what their positions are.

Lord I beg of you, grant me the passion and skill that people have on the Right for finding "technically according to" reasons why they are allowed to be evil.

How do live with yourself when the only skill you hone is "When I'm told I can't hurt other people I'm super good at finding a loophole or an old precedent or a philosophical argument or some other technicalities to show that I can."

Brittany Watts, the woman who miscarried at 22 weeks and was being charged with abuse of a corpse, will not be tried for that felony.

Abuse of corpse charge dropped against Ohio woman who miscarried at 22 weeks pregnant

A Trumbull County grand jury declined to indict 34-year-old Brittany Watts on a charge of abuse of a corpse after she miscarried into a toilet in September. Watts, whose miscarriage and subsequent charge garnered national attention and criticism from reproductive health advocates, faced a fifth-degree felony charge after she managed her stillbirth at home.

Cooler and saner heads prevailed.

Or they realized that if just ONE liberal, or pro-abortion conservative person got on that jury, a hung jury was a certainty.

And yes Mike! Brittany should sue them into oblivion!

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed Idaho to enforce provisions of a strict new abortion ban that could penalize doctors who perform the procedure in emergency situations.

The court granted emergency requests filed by Idaho state officials, putting on hold a federal judge's ruling that said the provisions conflict with federal law.

The court also said it would hear oral arguments on the issue in April and issue a ruling by the end of June.

Other provisions of the near-total abortion ban were already in effect.

Can someone please explain the emergency abortion scenario to me? Like the actual medicine involved?

My understanding is that pediatricians do not abort children to save mothers. Rather, they remove the child and do their best to keep both child and mother alive.

Is there even any living doctor who claims they had to kill the fetus to save the mother? They literally had no other choice?

The ideal is, we don't kill fetuses unless we absolutely have to. But abortion enthusiasts seem to be waving this red herring as a distraction from abortions of convenience.

Ectopic pregnancy falls into this category of abortion. When an ectopic pregnancy happens, the newly formed embryo implants into the Fallopian tube rather than into the uterus, and if not removed, the mother will shortly die when that Fallopian tube ruptures. The embryo is too immature to survive outside the womb in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Republicans are incorrect when they say that the embryo can be transferred into the uterus. In red states, the women who have these sorts of pregnancies are allowed to die because the doctor fears arrest, because the wording in the laws is at best nebulous and designed to be poorly understood.

What is more, the dying woman will not be given so much as an aspirin because that could 'harm the baby'.

Both my best friend and my sister-in-law had ectopic pregnancies that required immediate emergency surgery. Good thing they didn't happen in Idaho now.

I've known many advocates of abortion rights, even been one, and even known a few people who had abortions in real life, but I've never met one of these. Where do these rare beasts reside?

I think they might be the nonliving doctors alluded to by the phrase "living doctor". Undead? Zombie doctors?

It's not just ectopic, of course. At last check, there's a number of kinds of nonviable pregnancies.

With that said, though, that doesn't quite look like what's being referred to directly. Rather, the issue is having an abortion to save the mother, which, again, is larger than ectopic pregnancies.

Here's a Reuter's article on the subject to start, though.

Termination of pregnancy can be necessary to save a woman’s life, experts say

Contrary to claims made online, certain medical conditions may require the termination of a pregnancy to avoid fatal complications for the mother.

“Abortion is never medically necessary to save a woman’s life,” reads a popular tweet ( here ), as campaigners call 2021 the “worst year” for abortion rights ( here ).

“Yes, there are absolutely certain medical conditions that warrant us to very urgently encourage a woman to have an abortion,” said Stacey Beck, MD and Assistant Professor at the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Physicians

Among those listed - water broke early and an infection happened, placental abruption, especially when there's heavy bleeding, early preeclampsia, and if the pregnancy interferes with treating other serious conditions like cancer. Not a complete list, but far more than is needed to make a point. In a slightly different direction, I've met a girl who said that she was advised that, because of her body's size and quirks, a pregnancy would be extremely dangerous for her, no matter what, so getting an abortion was recommended if she did get pregnant.

In the minds of Republicans, usually, at last check, when they fall for deceptions, self-inflicted or otherwise. Few actually like abortions, even when they embrace legal abortion, because there's a lot more wrapped into that issue. The net benefits of legal abortion compared to illegal abortion are pretty overwhelming and comprehensive. Also, I'm reasonably willing to assume that most actual abortion enthusiasts are or would be Republicans, with the note that said abortions (or forced sterilizations instead) would be a means of population control for some disfavored group.

I noticed the use of that phrase, too, and thought what a silly remark it was. "Abortion enthusiasts"? Is having an abortion a sport? An enjoyable social event? Do women get together and discuss their favorite abortion over a glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres?

Look up the terms (no-one here is interested in spoon-feeding you)

Severe Preeclampsia
Pulmonary Hypertension
Ectopic Pregnancy
Severe Kidney Disease
Anencephaly
Edwards Syndrome (Trisomy 18)

When you have educated yourself sufficiently, you'll be in a position to have a meaningful discussion.

HINT: Every one of these is a life-threatening condition, in which continuing the actual delivery puts the pregnant woman at huge risk of death, with little if any chance of the fetus surviving, whether or not the mother survives the birth.

The case of Kate Cox (the Texas woman who was denied an abortion) the fetus had trisomy 18. 90-95% of these pregnancies end in stillbirths; those infants born alive with the disorder live anguished, short and painful lives. If she had continued the pregnancy, there was a one in three chance she would die, and a near certainty that even if she did survive, she would be infertile as a result.

My understanding is that pediatricians do not abort children to save mothers. Rather, they remove the child and do their best to keep both child and mother alive.

You understanding is mostly wrong - there is this thing called viability. The vast majority of potential problems are discovered just weeks into a pregnancy, and well before the fetus would even be close to viable. Kate Cox was 20 weeks in - the most premature birth ever with survival was 21 weeks - the baby's twin did not survive.

Is there even any living doctor who claims they had to kill the fetus to save the mother? They literally had no other choice?

See the Kate Cox case.

Showing your true colours I see!

Worth noting: "Abortion in this scenario can be lifesaving simply because abortion is much safer than delivery. In the United States, research shows fewer than 1 person in 100,000 dies from an abortion, while according to the CDC nearly 18 in 100,000 people die from pregnancy-related complications — a nearly 20-fold increase in the risk of death.

The risks are even higher for minority women: Per 100,000 live births, over 41 Black women and more than 26 American Indian or Alaska Native women die of pregnancy-related complications each year."
