Hi, Billdave2 :w2: Glad you de-lurked.

Have to give 'em a warped sort of credit for going large:

That is a kook with the courage of his convictions, unlike a grubby conman we might name.

Either that or just more chutzpah than Menard.

And his courage has now probably got him a conviction. :)

Or soon will, anyway.

Also, from the linked article, it appears that Garnett Campbell prefers to go by the name "Noble Yeshuah B. al Nina El".

What?

Shouldn't that be something like Noble B. al Nina El:@# of the Family Yeshuah... or something? ;)

Lets keep this thread bumped with some good interesting stuff, the guitarists are fantastic, I cant see Menard topping that, after all he cant compete with a balloon.

Where are all the FOTLers these days? Other than a handful of the really hardcore deslusionauts, they seem to have mostly disappeared from the Internet.

After the truly pathetic courtroom failures of Lance Thatcher, Keith “call me Kathy” Thompson and Brian Alexander and the collapse of the cult’s conman/leader there isn’t that much left for the next generation of snake oil salesmen to build on.

It doesn’t speak well for the cult when judges routinely stifle freeman in mid rant and the leader of the cult can’t organize a simple semenard at the local Masonic hall.

Foremost among “Freemen the Next Generation” seems to be Dean Clifford who has developed a new spiel in which he explains away the failure of core freeman arguments by presumptuously opining that the courts have conspired to deny that freemen are right.

It’s the “why won’t you admit you beat your spouse” argument crafted for Logical Fallacies 101 drop outs.

Like the generations before him (Alex Muljiani, Eldon Warman and now the failed Robert Menard) Clifford is faced with the challenge of repackaging the cult‘s “you ain’t the boss of me” core beliefs for a new generation of suckers.

Fortunately for Clifford, and the other heirs to the freeman on the land legacy of lunacy, poor economic times, fuzzy thinking and drug and alcohol induced brain damage promise to provide a vein of suckers, however small, ripe to be mined.

It still blows me away that some people take these clowns seriously. Take Clifford's "argument" (for lack of a better word) that s. 32 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms negates all statutory law because it says the Charter only applies to government, and if the supreme law of the land (the constitution - of which the Charter is a part) only applies to government, then so does every other law. (I seem to remember Menard trotting that one out too).

It doesn't even require any legal expertise to see right through that - just some basic common sense. Does he really expect people to believe that the Government of Canada, in the Constitution of Canada, crafted a provision that exempts everyone in Canada from all of the laws of Canada? I guess he does. What a complete jackass.

Of course, s. 32 of the Charter spells out what should be obvious - the enumerated rights in the Charter are protections for individuals and minority groups against government action that would otherwise infringe those rights. It doesn't protect individuals from private sector discrimination (there is other human rights legislation legislation for that); it applies only to government because it is meant as a rights-based check on government power.

Which makes Clifford's idiocy especially ironic. He claims the Charter doesn't apply to him. Well that's great Deano! You've gone and waived your rights and now the government can do whatever it wants to you!

Thankfully, in enlightened constitutional democracies like Canada, the constitution protects idiots despite themselves.

I finally sorted out the chords for "I Don't Want to Go To The Basement", to give some idea of my skill level.....
Isnt that what Menard said to his Dad when he got caught lying again?

FYI, I've split the interesting discussion about Etta Baker, Piedmont Blues, and the guitar playing of various members to its own thread in Forum Community here. Please feel free to continue the guitar playing discussion there.

I do not consent!!!! I wrote it on hemp paper with a quill pen and everything!

Ahh, but you did in the key of C instead of B flat, so it's not enough to play it upside down and backwards, it has to be strung inside out.

Green ink? Thumbprint in blood? Covered in tape? Signed at a thirty degree angl?
written with the quill plucked from the wing of a mute swan on the stroke of midnight.
Seriously though guys, the whole internet is now pretty much free of the loons, OK WFS still has around 4 of them but thats pretty much it, and good old boy Rob was telling us all that it was growing exponentially :D

My office gets a few of 'em who write in asking the CF Provost Marshall intervene on behalf of them as the representative of an "ally of HMTQ" but not enough to worry about.

I'm thinking that word may have gotten out that all we do is return the documents with a polite, "I'm sorry, but what you are asking for lies outside the statutory authority of the CF / your documents do not relate to any known court process in Canada and we are returning your paperwork to you for disposal as you see fit."

A-HA! Thought you'd slip that one by us, eh? :D

Freemen on the land have become the walking dead of anti-government subcultures.

They can’t move very fast, everyone runs from them and it’s only a matter of time before they take one to the head.

I wonder how Dean Clifford's "private prosecution" of CBC for that freeman piece is going.
