Richard Gage vs Mark Roberts

It really wouldn't be a problem. The other architects that hire him will beat him over the head with a roll of shop drawings; tell him to go talk to the structural engineers and stop acting like architects actually know something about structures. Most architects will admit that they know jack.
Maybe it wouldn't but I can tell you if I needed to hire an architect after watching that cardboard model, there is no way I would ever hire anyone so obviously stupid nor would I ever hire such a blatant liar. I seem to think it would be more of a "now" that anyone he is working with will smack him in the head and call him an idiot (not what I would say but rule 10 prevents me from saying it) but in the future it probably will create some problems.

ETA - What was with the AIA by Gages name? Did the AIA reverse their "decision" and back Gage?

I agree...
Part of the education in the architecture major is to learn the basics of loading structures and determining safe loads, load capacities, etc. (we take structures classes which fill us in on concrete and steel construction). If an architect has that level of stupidity trying to use card board boxes to explain why a tower should not have collapsed it's humiliating...

Actually, yes. Here's what AE 911 Truth engineer Donald Messerlian believes:

–“Seismographic evidence proved pre-planted explosives destroyed WTC 1, 2 and building 7 before the planes struck buildings 1 & 2.”

Right. The three WTC buildings were destroyed before the planes hit. In the same vein of disturbed fantasy, Richard's aerospace engineer is a "no-planer":

–"After performing some in-depth research on this subject, I have come to the conclusion that no commercial airplanes impacted the two WTC Towers. No commercial plane impacted the Pentagon. No commercial aircraft buried itself in Pennsylvania terra firma."

Seriously, I could really use a link or source for this, please.

His demonstration reminded me of playschool.

The beginning reminds me of history of the world with Noah presenting the 15 commandments. "We have 110 stories" *crash* "95! 95 stories".

And perhaps if they had only built the WTC out of cardboard, tragedy could have been averted.

predictably a few of the more insane posters at LCF think Richard "cardboardboy" Gage bested Mark...denial runs deep there don't it?

Seriously, I could really use a link or source for this, please.

I too would appreciate a link or source as well.

Anyway, I like how Gage uses only the one video of McPadden where he is being interviewed outside, and not the video of him changing his story wherever he was at the time (Don't know personally where he was).

Marks first point at about 8:10 is about how the FEMA investigation is old and how NIST will be coming out with their report next month (Yeah we all got our fingers crossed on that one) and for Gage to point to FEMA is premature? Should Gage have pointed to the non-existent NIST report instead? Nothing debunked there. Then Mark goes totally off topic to take a little passive aggressive swip at Gage implying how he is in it for the money. Nice.

John Clifton then makes the point that the fact NIST has not come out with a final report in almost seven years could leave one to believe there must be a controversy into what the answer should be regarding the collapse of WTC7. Excellent point.

Gage then goes on to answer Robert’s question about what the NIST working hypothesis is since 2004 and how it’s a complete revision to the original FEMA official version. He then goes on with the witness accounts of firefighters and a medical student witness who talks about the shock wave that went through WTC7 after he heard what sounded like a clap of thunder then the building collapsed. Then Bartner talks about the explosion he heard. What is Robert’s response? No one who was there really knows what they heard. They’re not experts. They’re mistaken. But Mark Roberts who wasn’t there and also is not any kind of expert knows exactly what they heard and what they didn’t. Is this debunking?

Oh and they’re bitter about being sick? What? This guy knows no bounds does he? Real nice!

Gage then moves on to the fires and points how the WTC7 fires moved around burning out in each area in about 20 minutes like normal building fires do and that this could not have caused building failure. Robert’s canned response is that Gage has not stated why the fires could not have caused the building to collapse when Gage has just addressed this very point. Roberts then responds to a question from Gage and asserts that the WTC7 collapse looks nothing like a video of a CD that Gage had shown earlier when everyone and anyone who witnessed the collapse even newscasters said that’s exactly what it looked like.

Gage then moves on to the witness accounts of molten steel finishing with the Metallurgical Examination. He no sooner finishes and Roberts starts his response with the inaccurate statement that no one tested this metal. What? Is Roberts even listening to Gage?

I’ll watch part two later because I’ve seen enough. Or should I say I’ll enjoy part two later? Why did an official version believer post this debate? Is this helping debunkers? I for one who doesn’t buy into the official conspiracy hope this will become one of the most viewed videos ever.

I can't believe he brought up Kevin "I change my story based on my audience" McPadden.

Once again, this man, allegedly educated, allegedly a professional, presents the typical grade 9 canards...this movement has not advanced in 3 years.

Actually do us a favor and don't post your comments about the debate. Gage has presented FAIL on a level so great that anymore presented in this thread and the entire forum might shut down.

Welcome to the forum truther.

NIST has an interim report on WTC7...I am sure you have not read it. You wanna talk passive aggressive? really? as a member of the insane, paranoid, idiot truth movement, you wanna start calling debunkers passive aggressive? really?

John Clifton then makes the point that the fact NIST has not come out with a final report in almost seven years could leave one to believe there must be a controversy into what the answer should be regarding the collapse of WTC7. Excellent point.

******** point. NIST devoted most of its manpower and resources to the original report and investigation of the WTC 1 and 2 collapses. You know it. They have stated as much. How convenient to not have that mentioned.

I thought it was a debate. You want debunking, stick around. As for Gage's presentation as you have mentioned above...wowee! "I know what an explosion was", "I was in shock" "clap of thunder".

Come on. Do you really think that when any building comes down, space beams, thermite (lol), explosives, or from fires (please don't go down the whiny road of "never before in the history of skyscrapers") that it comes down without a few "booms"? Give me a break. Gage is parroting the same, long debunked canards, and you know it. oh noes, der waz explosions!!!

Oh and they’re bitter about being sick? What? This guy knows no bounds does he? Real nice!

appeal to emotion. too bad, so sad, but it doesn't cut it. The fact is, some of those workers are bitter about being sick...many of them are. They have every right to be. The difference is that most of them do not fall for the snake oil...but some do. Or some are so lonely, so desperate for attention, or so want to be a hero to anyone, that they will fabricate, or at the very least embellish, what they saw and heard.

(A) Gage did not "prove" that the fires in building 7 all burned out. Did I miss this revelation?
(B) Gage DID NOT provide any evidence to contradict the working theory that NIST has with regard to the collapse of WTC7...end of story.
(C) I agree, that in APPEARANCE, not knowing anything else, but simply looking a the video, it is similar to a CD.

Gage then moves on to the witness accounts of molten steel finishing with the Metallurgical Examination. He no sooner finishes and Roberts starts his response with the inaccurate statement that no one tested this metal. What? Is Roberts even listening to Gage?

SO you are telling me that they have samples of molten steel, from ground zero, that they can prove became molten prior to the collapse???

My god, get the NY Times on the phone!!!

Enjoy it. Your movement is all but dead, and will not be revived. I will enjoy watching it turn to dust, and leave all but a few nuts, and a few paranoid angry young men.

Then why is it that you can't find a mention of this debate on a single troofer website, not even Gage's own site has ever made any mention of it, despite the fact that it was announced months ago?

That was painful to watch. What an exercise in futility.

I have a great deal of respect for Mark Roberts and all that he's done, but he might as well have debated a 5-year old on that program, and it would have been just as pointless. It's just another opportunity for Gage to spout nonsense, and make Mark spend the time to rebut it, while Gage simply prepares to move on to another senseless claim.

I think of Richard Dawkins' stance on not debating Creationists every time I see one of these programs. I'm still not sure these things are a good idea. It's easy to put a silly claim into a soundbite, but a coherent, rational refutation takes too much time.

I agree that was painful to watch. And frustrating too, in large part because the moderator was so weak. In debates with truthers, it's important to focus on a single point or a single quote before moving on to the next thing because truthers tend to jump around from topic to topic as if they have ADD. When they get cornered, they change the subject, so a good moderator would have said, for example, "Wait a minute. Let's focus on McPadden for a minute..." and then focused the discussion on whether it was a countdown or just pulses, why a "countdown" would be on a Red Cross radio, etc. And then moved on. Not as many topics would get covered, but at least a few of them would be covered more thoroughly.

Also, these "debates" are so inside baseball. I don't think anyone who hasn't been paying attention to all the 911 kookspiracy discussions would have the slightest clue what either one of them was talking about. Again, I fault the moderator here.

Well unfortunately these twoofers who seem to think their cases are so air tight can't get passed "dismissed WITH prejudice" in a court case. It's scary to think that even creationists have a much better case than these conspiracy nuts.
