Rapture - 23rd September 2015

If you'll review post #334 you'll find another example used within the Bible.
There's no need to look elsewhere for what is already found in the Bible which is the book of discussion.

As far as not replying to certain posts you have made in the thread. Part of my reasoning was to save you from embarrassment as since you mistakenly stated that the siege of Jerusalem as discussed previously was ended with a payment. This is entirely incorrect and reflects a severe lack of knowledge of the subject, as the siege of Jerusalem began immediately AFTER the payment was made at Lachish in the text. I'm sorry but you'll need more than access to google in some cases of discussion here.
Chris B.

You are claiming that a word in a completely different language than modern ENglish, in a completely different time period than now, has a different meaning than what is apparent in the various writings of that particular language, in that particular time period!

You're claim, you're job to prove said claim! If you can't do it, admit it humbly and move on. You're arguments are completely worn out, and are on the verge of becoming quite tiresome.

My knowledge of Greek is pretty limited. All I can say is that I haven't been able to find any reference to back Strong's claim that the word in the Bible can mean "race". The references I've found in Homer, I would read as birth or heritage rather than race. And other sources have stated that Strong's lacks historical context, so clearly it needs to be validated. Knowing this, I can't think of any reason why someone would take Strong's as the default position to be disproved rather than a possible meaning requiring further proof.

And as others have pointed out, why would we read Matthew 24:34 differently from Mark 8:12?

I would probably say that everyone's knowledge of ancient Greek is lacking in this thread. Mine is totally devoid. I know nothing of ancient Greek dialects. However, it was your argument that asked ChrisB to provide examples of other ancient Greek texts which shows that "generation" can, in fact, mean "race." ChrisB failed in doing this. Therefore, your "argument" stands, regardless whether or not you or I or anyone else participating in this subject knows anything about ancient Greek dialects.

ChrisB made a claim. He needs to be held to proving his claim. And using Strong's (which uses the Bible) in order to prove the Bible is a classical example of a logical fallacy.

The Rapture was going to happen, but Ticketmaster messed up the pre-sale
Are we sure, it wasn't a nano rapture and that's why we missed it?

With the surface area of the earth at about 500 million km2, the area affected in a nano rapture would be something of half a square km2.
With the surface area of the seas and dry land taken into consideration, there's only about a chance of 1 in 3 that it even would occur on land. Let alone in a place where people are actively living.

'But with 10 years of nano raptures going on, we would have at least seen something of the other 9', I hear you ask?
I say no!
A rapture is only scary as a rapture, if it continues to grow larger and larger from the place it starts!
So, with only about 33% chance of it even starting on land, I think there will be many more years of living, before we would even start to notice this ongoing rapture.

Comedian Sherri Shepherd said that she spent eight days in jail after believing the Rapture was imminent. Shepard owed thousands of dollars in unpaid traffic tickets that she didn't think she had to pay. She also didn't pay her bills since she believed the world was "about to end."

In medieval times people were really anxious to expunge the least blemish on their character in case they suddenly had to face their Maker.

It would be hugely funny if she'd turned up at the pearly gates and been directed to the down escalator as it turn out God is a real stickler and duh, yes, unpaid-for parking violations do count as sins.

(I mean, it's funny enough that she got time in real jail.)

Its funny she didn't pay tickets, taxes, etc, because she was convinced the rapture was coming. If the rapture was coming, why not pay the fees, there's no reason to hang on to earthly treasure

They must've forgotten to carry the 2 again. No worries, I'm sure they'll get the next prediction right.
