Rainbow crosswalks

The Maga weirdoes in Florida are having a fit because colors have been added to the crosswalks:

Florida puts rainbow crosswalks in the crosshairs, as cities face deadlines to remove them

Like I posted somewhere else, "Let that level of stupid sink in for a moment."

Next, they'll be banning people from wearing colorful clothes as the use the crosswalk.

That'll probably never happen, but I wouldn't put it past the maga weirdoes to at least try, because it'll save lives.

You may think I'm joking, but if you should read the comment section of the above article, you'll see that some of them believe colorful crosswalks cause accidents.

Personally, I think the idiots who oppose it have issues with their sexuality or lack of it, but that's just my opinion.

Your mileage may vary of course.

Forty-eight hours before the state is due to send people in to restore the "safety" of the cross walks, repaint them with red and white stripes and blue borders with stars. (Not an actual flag image, though, so it doesn't offer the excuse of being "disrespectful" to a flag.)

Have film crews ready to livestream and record them obliterating the patriotic decorations.

Repeat as needed. Come on, Florida towns. Have you forgotten all tactics?

Someone should rainbow paint all the Confederacy-celebrating statues in Florida. Overnight without warning. They aren't a road safety issue. ;)
It is confusing to me why some people think that statues of traitors to our country are a good thing, but a memorial to our friends and neighbors killed in a horrible mass shooting is a bad thing.

If this was coming from someone other than MAGA, I'd say they have a point. Road markings generally have specific meanings so, in theory, the rainbows could be misunderstood. The ones in Florida should have the stripes going parallel to the street traffic for that reason.

I do object for aesthetic reasons to be honest. I find rainbows unappealing except when in the sky.

And yes, its ROYGBIV, not ROYGBV.

ETA: Why is that chicken crossing the street?

ETA: It wouldn't shock me if they are legal correct in this. That federal funding for transportation is tied to following AASHTO conventions on road markings which means crosswalks are alternating black and white stripes. Not really worth pushing IMHO but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

There are no specific narional rules against colored crosswalks. They are not uncommon across the US. The rainbow painting of the Orlando crosswalk was approved by the state. Then Florida passed a hateful, bigotted law specifically targeting it and other rainbow crossings.
