Priebus out...

That and Reince is a career player. Taking your thumping quietly and with dignity shows you will not stir the pot over personal upset, which raises your value as a strategist/insider/party contact. Especially after being accused of leaking, he has to put his discretion on display (as odd as that wording is) at least in public on news shows.

ETA: The Preibus/Spicer faction already got their shots in yesterday through intermediaries, anyways :9.

My guess is Preibus is a lot more direct with some one like Paul Ryan and Lindsey Graham in private. I think Preibus is loyal to the party in the end.

All I can say is this:

When is Bannon and his band of white supremacists moving out?

January 2021, unless the Democrats screw up in their primaries again.

For better or worse, "Bannon and his band of white supremacists" represent the views of a sizeable proportion of the U.S. electorate in a number of key states. There are also apparently a number of GOP "loyalists" who may not wholeheartedly endorse those views but who are sympathetic enough to give them house room.

As a result, IMO these white supremacist views will remain part of the GOP mainstream for the foreseeable future. I had hoped that the Tea Party would blow itself out in short order - that hasn't happen. I had hoped that the religious right would recede - that hasn't happened.

Of course there is considerable overlap between the three groups but they aren't going anywhere unless there is a sudden, unprecedented, change in US attitudes towards race, religion, science and so on. :(

If the Democratic Party is successful in getting them out in 2021, they'll be back in 2025 or 2029.

I think people need to see more the human side of President Trump, that he is a genuine, decent, caring person that engages people. He is also extremely funny, I know you know that, I mean he can just crack you up all the time - and he is a good friend

You know who else was a good friend?

Anikan.

And we all know how that turned out.

Fair point. But any investment strategy presumes taking out enough money to live on. He could have financed much of his lavish lifestyle with borrowing for home mortgages, plane loans etc. (and almost certainly did), and serviced the loans by drawing on a relatively small percentage of the principal while the rest grew. An index-fund strategy would also have protected him from his AC losses and other bad judgments.

And typically a businessman achieves success by manufacturing or marketing products or services that the public wants to buy. Trump makes much of his money by selling his name as some kind of fantasy fulfillment. If we're electing "businessmen," I'd vote for Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Jack Welch etc., etc. long before Trump.

Agreed on all counts.

Trump has been successful, but mostly as a con artist.

The day after Priebus was out of his job, rather than hiding, or starting a disgruntled routine, he went on Hannity - and continued to sing the High Praises for Donald:

At 10:04 minutes:

What the...???

I didn't see the clip, but if your quote is representative, I'm not sure it isn't "damning with faint praise". He didn't say he was an effective leader or a great president.

But I'm not willing to watch a 10 minute clip of Hannity just to find out. I'll listen to that guy on the radio while I'm driving, but that's only because I've got nothing better to do.

Are there no solid obstacles got could practice crashing into?

These arguments elide Trump's preferences. He'd prefer to be rich and famous rather than richer and not as famous. Could a fund buy the tabloid celebrity he fashioned for himself? Trump's critics remind everyone he's a rich kid, and he is, but most of us still think of him as a real-estate mogul and huckster (which he also is). Whether we like it or not, Trump has authored the kind of life he wants to lead, though he still craves being richer and more loved. Those cravings are probably bottomless.

If there's one good thing about Reince Priebus being out, it's that I never have to worry about spelling or pronouncing his name again.

Priebus also praised Trump for his politics and accomplishments (without going too specific).

They didn't screw up the Primaries, they screwed up the General by failing to take into account the levels of falsehoods that the opponents and foreign Governments would go to sway the elections, and so never adjusted their tactics to making sure that safe states remained safe states.

This is how I see it also. And it's as annoying as hell that Progressives and other Democrats haven't invested enough in marketing.:(

How much longer till Mueller is done? This is out of control.
Several Republicans have threatened to start impeachment proceedings for obstruction of justice if Trump makes a move to fire Mueller.

It's a gamble for Trump either way.
