Presidential Primaries 2016

Just to review, with the current superdelegates who have endorsed Clinton (and there's no reason to think she won't have at least 469 of the 715 superdelegates even if some of these change their endorsements), Clinton only needs 35% of the remaining pledged delegates.

While Sanders needs 65% of all the remaining pledged delegates and 100% of the remaining superdelegates, neither of which is likely to happen. Sanders needs to stop dissing Clinton and consider what will happen with a POTUS Trump or Cruz. Maybe he'll figure that out after his big crowd in Brooklyn doesn't equate to a big NY win.

And if Clinton only gets 50% of NY, PA and MD, three states she currently leads in, she only needs 27% of the remaining pledged delegates.

Yep, time for Sanders to stop being pissed off and salvage what's left of his almost revolution, working on down ballot positions and trade his support for Clinton for concessions which she should be all too happy to concede to since she's ... wait for it ... actually a Progressive even if she's not perfect in his mind.

The Contest/Candidate Proof List of the Qualified Candidates is on the web site of our County Registrar of Voters.

The following Democrats are on the ballot along with Sanders and Clinton:

Keith Judd (This guy is cuckoo bananas.)
Michael Steinberg
Willie Wilson (not the baseball player, lol)
Roque de la Fuente

I think that their poll numbers were too low to be invited to any of the debates.

The following Republicans are still on the ballot, even though they suspended their campaigns:

Ben Carson
Jim Gilmore

I wonder why they didn't request to have their names removed.

The American Independent Party (ultra conservative) has seven candidates listed

The Green Party has five candidates listed.

The Libertarian Party has twelve candidates listed.

The Peace and Freedom party (liberal) has three candidates listed.

People who are registered as NPP (No Party Preference) can vote in the presidential primary for the following parties: Democratic, American Independent and Libertarian.

The other primaries (Republican, Green, Peace and Freedom) are closed to non-party members.

But if you are registered for a party other than the Democratic Party (as opposed to no party affiliation) you also have to officially change your registration by May 23. Same with new registrations: May 23rd is the last day to register.

Many hundreds of thousands of people have registered and re-registered over the last few months. There are paper forms and an online form.

I think the best reason for Bernie to stay in the race is to keep pissing off Skeptic Ginger for not yielding to his Democratic Party overlords.

I won't be pissed off unless Trump wins. I think it's interesting to watch the Sanders supporters cling to hope. They see the enthusiasm around them in the room and don't realize it's not universal outside.

They don't say which party the new registrants are choosing. It would be nice to know.

I couldn't find any information about that, however, I did find some statistics from January 2016 of how many people are registered for the six qualified parties as well as how many people registered for parties that are trying to qualify.

I meant % out of the surge of new registrants.

Early returns point to a very good night for Trump and Clinton. I thought they would win of course, but the margins matter here and they are pretty large.

Although they still haven't called the Democratic race yet, so maybe it's actually closer than it appears?
