Presidential Primaries 2012

What is this supposed to mean?

It means you're supposed to add MaGZ to your ignore list and keep him there permanently.

As for Christie, it's only a matter of time before being from NJ brings him down. If he can't bring their deficit [the largest of any state per-capita] under control with the kind of draconian spending cuts he's proposing then he's not going to get very far.

Mitt Romney is going to have a hell of a time explaining why Obamacare is bad but Romneycare is good. He remains "the presumptive frontrunner" but I think in the end this will kill his chances.
Romneycare will be his Achilles heel in the primary. But it's not like everyone else with a realistic shot at the GOP nom doesn't also have a major one.

Just a few updates for now, but expect a flurry over the next few months, as the dust settles from the election just passed.

Senate Teahadist leader J. DeMint has said that he's "totally out," though he claims the skills to do the job -- so he gets struck. I think he's plotting his rise to Senate majority leader in Jan 2013.

There has been a lot of buzz around NJ Gov C. Christie, which qualifies him for inclusion here at this time. Though it's very unlikely he'll jump in, no doubt he'll make a big splash if he does.

It'll be 3 years until we get close to the answer that this thread asks, but we might as well get started.

Don't forget Hilary and possibly Al Gore. Those two together as pres./VP would kick Obama's ass.

This is not a serious idea. Neither of those two will enter an election again. Period. End of story.

It looks like the first GOP Presidential debate will happen this Spring (date tba) -- to be sponsored by Politico and NBC, and to be held at the Reagan library. I sure hope that this doesn't turn into another dig-up-the-Gipper-and-campaign-on-his-sainted-memory-fest as it was 4 years ago at this venue. Yikes!

Anyway, I'm soliciting speculation on the who will show up for this. The person choosing the most correct candidates, subtracting the number of speculatees who don't show up*, will be publicly recognized in this thread a genius political prognosticator.

* Final tally = number of candidates you successfully predicted as participating - number of candidates you predicted but who do not show up

No mention of Michael Bloomberg?

If the economy continues to stagnate, he could emerge as a serious contender.

He gets mentioned a lot. I have kept him off the list because he has already said, unequivocally, that he won't run. If he starts to equivocate, I'll add him lickety-split.

Huckabee (I still think he will get the nomination)
Romney
Gingrich
Pawlenty
Barbour
Giuliani
Ron Paul
Pence
And my wildcard is Trump

I found this...

"New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's top political strategist, Kevin Sheekey, will exit City Hall and return to the company the mayor founded, fueling speculation that Mr. Bloomberg is laying the groundwork for a potential White House bid."

Non-event fuels speculation. Hilarious.

I'd bet that if Bloomberg decides to see Mama Mia! rather than Jersey Boys on Broadway this weekend, speculation will run rampant through the streets.

Someone getting a lot of air these days is P. Ryan, congressman from Wisconsin. He looks just a little bit like Casey Kasem too, so all the better. Welcome to the party, Mr. Ryan.

You can add David Duke to the list of Repulican candidates
http://www.davidduke.com/general/will-dr-david-duke-run-for-u-s-president_17873.html

I know you all doubt he'll win, but racial awareness is stirring within the Tea Party movement and Obama is stimulating discontent with blacks in general amongst Whites. I would not be shocked if he eked out a squeeker in the Republican primaries.

And given the awful economy, he could even win the general election.

Uh... yeah. Let me know when the spaceship lands.

ONLY the modern GOP teatards would possibly consider the forerunner of their party to be an untitelligent, barely literate, quiter who ADVERTISES that she would rather go fishing then serve her country in some stuff old political party
