Pre-TAM get together? (In NY)

Hey- Thanks for the great time! If the people at TAM are this enjoyable and interesting I will have a truly “Amazing” time! I just wish I could have seen the look on the "tarot readers" face if this group was allowed in [As we left the pizzeria we passed a Tarot shop, Rebecca yells, “We’re going in!”].

Oh, I really wish I could have made it in on Friday, sounds like you guys had a blast.

I did get into the city on Saturday, but could not make it to the museum in time, had to get my hair cut. I did encounter the $cientologists giving free "stress tests" at the 42nd Street Subway station and wish you all could have been there so we could harass them big time. I just managed to tell them to peddle their cult elsewhere cause I wasn't buying it ;) I was just surprised that the cops standing 10 feet away from them let them go on about their business. I wonder what Mayor Bloomberg's position is on them. I just sent an email to the Mayor's office to see what he has to say about it, will be interested to see what reply I get, if any.

It was a memorable night. The day after was great as well. I met Exarch and HarryKeogh at the American Museum of Natural History and they were nice enough to work around my schedule.

The Darwin exhibit was great. Like everything in New York, there were too many people, but the exhibit itself was very well done. Eugenie Scott was well represented. I really got a sense of who the man was, and also how the idea was ripe at the time. It just needed the right peson to pick it.

Now off to TAM. Counting the TAMs, this is the fifth or sixth time I've gone off to meet folks from the forum. I have never been dissapointed. It's such an interesting and dynamic group of people, that I wonder what is the one thing that bonds us all together on here. More research to follow at TAM4...which I leave for in 20 hours. Must find coffee....

You probably should't have let that stop you. After Jeff had to leave to get home, HarryKeogh and I went to a nearby Italian restaurant. I think we were in the city at least until 3 or 4 PM.

And you could have laughed at me while I was dragging my heavy suitcase all over Manhattan and on the subway.

Next year, I'm buying some decent luggage ...

As I recall, there were some pictures taken that evening. If anybody can post those and get me a copy I'd be most appreciative.

Then I would like the negatives burned!!!!

Just kidding - it was a blast - I only regret I'm gonna miss out on TAM...

Next Year BABY!!!

Alright, someone fess up. Does Jeff really look like his avitar? I think he's shading the truth.

I met him a year ago. The colors shifted a little faster then, but he did look like his avatar.

Truly, I was surprised. Had I known that our beloved Jeff would prove to be this embodiment of the human physical form, well...I'm not sure I could've summed up the courage to go. All I can say to those ladies who have not yet been fortunate enough to behold all that is Jeff picture this:

Imagine the sheer godliness of Adonis, the physical perfection of Achilles, the brooding masculinity of Heathcliff, but beneath all this lies the humility and despair of a Willie Lomax.

Oh yea, when one beholds Jeff the mind recalls "Beauty is truth, and truth is beauty." Your wife is truly blessed amongst women.

Having said that, he had kind of a funny shirt that did indeed look like his avatar. I wonder if he's got a yellow one too?

Ah, I just bought myself some nice new light luggage, mostly because my luggage attacked me on return from GenCon (ripped my finger and left a nice scar), but I sympathize with dragging heavy luggage, on my last trip to England my large case weighed 70 lbs and my small case was fairly heavy too, and I dragged that to 4 different cities on trains and buses. Happy to say my new luggage is light, has so many nice pockets, maneuverable and also an electric blue color which makes it much easier to spot on the luggage carousel in the sea of black or almost black luggage.

I was in the city until much after 4 pm, but did not get up to midtown until after 3 pm, I doubt I could have hooked up with you guys. See you in a couple of days.

Yes, yes, this is what I was digging for.:p

Perhaps the shirt was yellow and black on the back? And perhaps it's speed of change is based on his alertness level?

***Since this event is over, I have indeed hyjacked this thread for the sole purpose of teasing those who were there, since they got together and had fun without me. >>> sour >>>

I respectfully request that anyone with access to those pics from friday not post any of me. I hate the way I photograph.

Other than that it was one of the most amazing times. The gentlemen were uniformly handsome and rebecca was as always her lovely self.

For those of you that missed this one that just means we all need to get together again when you can join us.

I still say we should have run off with her sign.

That would have been some quality publicity for TAM...
