What we might call Renaissance men of ignorance?
Try "Denaissance men"
What we might call Renaissance men of ignorance?
They speak of themselves as being a superior race. (A superior race of dumb white guys!
Yawn - There are exceptions of course. Is Cynthia Mckinney a dumb white guy?
There is a reason why I call myself "Adequate".Sorry, Dr. Adequate, the continual spiral motion transgresses Newton's First Law: "A body remains at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted on by an external force".
The Second Law states that the force required to give a given mass a given acceleration is the product of the mass and the acceleration (F=ma).
And so, of course, I didn't claim that. This thread is ridiculous. To claim CTs are all people who think a helter skelter ball will continue in a spiral is just utter crap.
Ah! A sort of 'Jack-of-all-Ignorances'?
When it come to Physics, I think I will trust a Professor of it, such as Staven Jones, rather than amateurs such as yourselves.
What are my preconceived notions? Do you know I am an amateur? What work have you done on the collapse of the towers?
If you think any of the twoofer scientists know what they're talking about, then yeah, evidence suggests you don't know what your talking about. Do feel free to prove me wrong.
As for preconceived notions, I don't know, I'm simply inferring. Once again, feel free to post what you do think, so we can at least know your actual beliefs. In the absence of such disclosure, we're forced to speculate, and you won't like that, I assure you.
Is Cynthia Mckinney a dumb white guy?
Welcome, Rebel!
Yea--like once in a while you see a black Republican. Ain't that somethin'?
I tell you, it's worth posting here just to read the reactions.
But wait!
Ignorance of everything may be necessary, but even the vastest ignorance is not enough to make a Truther!
You also need to have an almost megalomaniacal ego. Each and every Truther thinks he's a genius. They speak of themselves as being a superior race. (A superior race of dumb white guys! Don't forget, these guys can't tell the difference between movies and reality.) Quite a few of them think they can predict the future.
My colleague Alex Jones does entire shows on how frustrating it is to live in a world so foolish and stupid. I'll bet Alex is just saying up front what every Truther believes.
So a big fat ego is also necessary missing ingredient to our Truther recipe. Ignorance of physics is only a start.
People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains. The authors suggest that this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it. Across 4 studies, the authors found that participants scoring in the bottom quartile on tests of humor, grammar, and logic grossly overestimated their test performance and ability. Although their test scores put them in the 12th percentile, they estimated themselves to be in the 62nd. Several analyses linked this miscalibration to deficits in metacognitive skill, or the capacity to distinguish accuracy from error. Paradoxically, improving the skills of participants, and thus increasing their metacognitive competence, helped them recognize the limitations of their abilities.
It is one of the essential features of such incompetence that the person so afflicted is incapable of knowing that he is incompetent. To have such knowledge would already be to remedy a good portion of the offense.
And so, of course, I didn't claim that.
For the hard of thinking, let me explain my point to you in the simplest possible terms:
There is a whole bunch of CT arguments which depend not only on having no mathematical knowledge of Galilean physics but also on having no common-sense knowledge of Galilean physics. Such as one can obtain by seeing real things actually fall over.
Uh, I named several of them in my OP, how stupid are you?Name one of these arguments.
When it come to Physics, I think I will trust a Professor of it, such as Staven Jones, rather than amateurs such as yourselves.
"louder than the exchange rate of the pound against the dollar". One cannot quantify the exchange rate in decibels. Any person who tries to do so is ignorant of physics, economics, or, most likely, both.
Uh, I named several of them in my OP, how stupid are you?
Duh.
If I had to pick just one of them, it would be the drooling nonsense about "faster than free fall". This is just meaningless, like saying "yellower than the speed of sound", or "louder than the exchange rate of the pound against the dollar". One cannot quantify the exchange rate in decibels. Any person who tries to do so is ignorant of physics, economics, or, most likely, both.
