Perpetual motion machine examination rules, please.

Hi AgingYoung,
Any progress on the wheel yet?
I am waiting eagerly for an announcement.

Tirdum: AgingYoung is aware of Donald Simanek's Museum of Unworkable Devices, has been directed to it several times during the discussion, and has consulted it as a means to develop his machine.

If you consult Donald's excellent site, you will discover that the principles presented very seldom are any use convincing a pmm proponent of "the error of their ways". Donald has a different approach which he suggests: one must play the game.

I realise that reading through the many posts in a long thread can be tiresome. However: I wondered why you thought that nobody else had directed attention to this very well-known and popular site? A breif summary of the project follows:

Status to date:
While the description we have seem to show a misapplication of Stevin's Theorum, AgingYoung feels that this does not apply in his case. His models all seem to display a net unbalanced torque when each component is measured seperately and then added - but his models fail to rotate. The last thing to be tried was loading the mechanics into a CAD system to investigate how everything interacts. There has been nothing since.

A better way to make a million

Why not just go ahead and make a bunch of these devices and generate power to your hearts content? You could make more than a million $, in fact most utility companies are required to accept excess power coming in to the grid, and pay you for it, so you don't even have to create an infrastructure to distribute power from your perpetual uh, er, source. No one has to see them, inspect them, or even know what they are.

This has also been discussed.

A good reason would be startup costs - not to mention the initial R&D to get commercial quantities of power out of the thing reliably.

Winning the mil would certainly help, as well as provide early publicity.

The "develope in secret" approach is common among charlatains: they just have to raise money for the initial outlay...

Because a search on the "Search this thread" link for "unwork" produced zero results. I had assumed that the search would be text-inclusive of other words or the urls of links, as a searching for "unworkable" shows several results.

I'm still perpetually plugging away at a solution to perpetual motion. I don't fully understand what you're saying Simon but I did get the sense that one of the models I was making was the projection of a vortex. It fascinates me that (as you noted) an imbalance of torque in a single mechanism doesn't move a wheel when more are added. That is so strange to me.

A while ago I mentioned that it was a good idea to take your computer apart and blow the dust off your cpu. It wouldn't be a bad idea to take your power supply apart and blow the dust out of there also. When that machine bit the dust I did all that to my other computer.

Then that 'other' computer started having a hard time starting. I think that was a clear power supply problem. If you have that problem replace your power supply. When that power supply finally lunched it took out the motherboard, cpu (maybe) and hard drive. The power supply had a fried thermistor and the motherboard had clear visible signs of over-voltage. The cpu is probably toast also but I'm not finished checking it.

I built a new machine and learned about the incapability of PSI and PSI2.2. The motherboard has onboard video. The video is horrible (16 colors) and can't run one application that I sometimes use. Sometime next week I'm going to get a new video card. I just loaded wm2d (cad program) on the new machine and it won't run. This has been keeping me busy. Hope you don't have to go thru this.

I just read the very interesting news. JREF is not accepting any challenge applications because of James Randi's condition and won't accept any until he gets better. I wonder if something drastic happens to Mr. Randi if the foundation will ever accept a challenge again. Also I wonder what will become of the million dollars.

I can't understand how a foundation's purpose and function can be so dependent on the health and life of a single person. Foundations are a legal fiction and survive beyond the life of their founder(s).

Although I've never had a serious illness I've had some pretty debilitating ones. I've managed to injure myself pretty good a couple of times also. Either way I wasn't too happy about what I was going thru. I'm not trying to make light of what Mr. Randi is going thru. I'm just curious why a function of the foundation is stopped because of this condition. Maybe this isn't the place to ask this question.

The JREF is not accepting applications mainly because the Challenge Coordinator left the JREF recently. Because James Randi is ill, he is not able to choose a new Challenge Coordinator.

Rest assured, it will all happen soon. In the meantime, the million is still safe and sound and waiting to be claimed.

Ripley,

Thank you for the timely response. I'm sure that every one hopes Mr. Randi has a full recovery.

panamajoe,
There are 3 separate entities in power; the production of it then the distribution of it (what you'd call the grid) then the local distribution of it. The local distribution are the lines coming into the neighborhoods and also the companies selling it to the end user. In Texas you can't produce electricity and also bring it to the end user. You may be able to circumvent that by having a shell company but by law a company that produces electricity has to divest itself of any company that sells it to the consumer.

Electricity producers in Texas have to sell their power moment by moment. It's sort of like the stock market or a spot market. The price fluctuates. Unless you meet the regulatory requirements of a power producer in Texas your electric provider isn't required to buy power from you in excess of what you use. Different states and jurisdictions are different.

I'm not sure what the cost of a ge generator would be that would produce any significant amount of power but I'm sure it would cost quite a bit. I've seen generators the size of vw beetles. I have no idea what they cost and I'm sure they make them bigger than that.

People sometimes think that a million dollars is chump change if you could produce the proof that gravity isn't a conservative force or you could model perpetual motion. That could be but most people couldn't write a check for ten grand much less 100 times that. I think I could be comfortable with that.

If it is possible that gravity isn't a conservative force and that idea were in the market place of ideas sharper people than me could capitalize on it. I could see giving people free license to the idea to see what they could do with it. That would be good for everyone.

Test for "perpetual motion" machine by AgingYoung

Real simple.
Has AgingYoung ACTUALLY MADE a machine that produces power output without external power input such as batteries, fuel, flowing water, sunlight, wind, etc?

If it runs from just plain water as a FUEL, that will be good enough.

If it produces more mechanical output power than electrical input power, that's "overunity" so that it should be easy to use some of the extra output power to supply the input power.

So bottom line: Does AgingYoung have a self running machine?
Has it run for several days, producing significant power of several watts which would be many watt-hours of ENERGY?

1 horsepower = 550 ft * lbs /second = 746 Newton * meters / second.

1 Newton of force * 1 meter = 1 Joule or watt-second.

1 KG on earth has 9.8 Newtons of force from gravity acceleration.

Just making claims that you "ALMOST" have a perpetual motion machine are worthless. Many people "just about have it ready" ;-)

Yea, I've got that one. I call it a water wheel.

Just making claims that you "ALMOST" have a perpetual motion machine are worthless.

You'd have to cite where I've said that. I don't remember writing that I almost have a perpetual motion machine. My goal isn't a perpetual motion machine. It is possible if I can model the ideas that I have perpetual motion will result but that remains to be seen.

You know what? I read this post and had to restrain myself from posting immediately, because I would have said something profane and gotten myself suspended. Any regular here can tell you that there is a specific time when we see people start attacking Mr Randi and the JREF. It is when they start to realise that their claims will not hold water, and they feel the need to distract attention away from it.

Gene, I have this to say to you: Go jump in a lake. Make it one of the Great Lakes, because they are really polluted...and cold, and that would be much more unpleasant for you.

Or, refocus the discussion on your claims, and bring us up to speed on how your experiments are progressing.

Oh, that's right, they're not.

Gr8wight,
You know what?
I'm sure if I read further I'll know what.

I merely asked a question. I have hope, Gr8wight, that you could point to anything I asked that would seem like an attack to you. My hope is in your ability to know why you think something. Could you please explain that thought process to me?
If you think you need to restrain yourself from answering right away I can understand that. I'd hate to see you get banned.

What a mean, hateful thing to say.

Things are moving a little slow. I've been haggling with microsoft to be able to use an os that I have two legal copies of. I currently have a dual boot system that I need to work out some minor glitches on. Since I don't do that sort of thing regularly I need to learn as I go and it's been a slow process.

I do have a whale of a question, Gr8wight. Could you point me to anywhere in this thread about any claim I've made?

You didn't attack me, you attacked Randi, and his foundation. Just go get yourself lost somewhere. You are a horrible person. I sincerely hope you never have to endure what Mr Randi has endured.

Gr8wight, sorry for budging in, but I really don't see where AgingYoung attacked Randi and JREF. He just raised some legitimate questions IMHO. Your calling him a horrible person was uncalled for.
