From what I've been hearing/reading he will not be appealing, so as far as I understand he is going directly to jail (do not collect R200).

It's possible he is in jail or on his way there as we speak.

There is no word from the State whether they will appeal the ruling.

I suspect there is a part of him that's kind of relieved the trial is over. Prison is not going to be fun, but I think the waiting might be worse.

The Daily Fail reports that Pistorius' defence team has said that he is danger if he is given preferential treatment:

Well if it's the minimum you suggest, a prosecution appeal is certain, IMO.

Personally, I don't have any problems that the time he gets is hard served.

The BBC just had a SA defence attorney suggesting that the remainder of the sentence could be spent under "corrective supervision", and he made it clear this can be a pretty strict regime.

I am amazed you don't extrapolate, I have said from the first post Pistorius believed he was shooting at an intruder. Now he is going to jail, I think he should be pleased to be in a secure unit where he is unable to be harrassed. Most prisoners would be very pleased for this favourable circumstance in their incarceration.
In other words, many would, colloquially speaking, "kill for this deal".
Now I will find a wiki entry to substantiate my understanding of this colloquialism. I am going there now, and if my research works against me, I will eat humble pie. I will post shortly.
