I was at Purdue then. My brother was at KKMC* when the SCUDs were flying. I knew to the inch where he was sitting with the USAF contingent. SO, when the rockets flew I would get calls from his wife, his mother-in-law, our mother, and the dog catcher, all wanting to know if "David is in danger." Amazingly enough no SCUDs landed anywhere near him. Believe me, it's true.

I was just starting to convert the Japanese Handbook into PDF when the Storm started. Living in the Grad House at Purdue. When the vigaro hit the Mixmaster my floor piled into my room for some expert commentary. Then we got drunk. The war made more sense that way. Two weeks later I was "borrowed" for some spooky ◊◊◊◊ and missed two semesters. The Uni kept my room as it was when I was shanghai'd.

Today is the 35th anniversary of BBC Radio 4On the Hour (or 35 years of Alan Partridge if you prefer) that became The Day Today on TV.

I remember that first show and how amazing the ‘Disaster at Big Street Station’ sequence was.
