Olbermann quits/is fired? Where's the thread?

When viewed through a skewed Left-wing political view...yes I can see how you came to that conclusion

And thank you for pointing out that conservatives will immediately refer to left/right political views when faced with a stump in their argument.

Now, I know I asked you this before but I will ask again... SO WHAT?

you asked me this before...SO WHAT!?

see we can both play the silly little "so what" game.

btw, if Olbermann had better ratings, he'd still have his job at MSNBC

that's what.

You implied that there are only TWO people in KO's fan base - meaning - you're inserting an argument of KO's popularity into this argument - I.E. Argumentum Ad Populum!!

First, I did not imply, I stated (within the context of a joke) there were only two people in Olberdouches fan base.

Second, you are engaging in reductio ad absurdum. Or at least you would be if you were countering an argument. I was obviously not seriously suggesting that the (formerly) main anchor of a international news network had only two viewers. I was simply mocking Keith Oblermann.

Worst Person Cenk is an ignorant boor who has no qualms with proclaiming his frat boy mentalities on sexuality and gender.

"This was all Keith's choice. He has several times over the years said that he wants out of his contract. He never meant it until this year. He started lawyers negotiating twice this year. He stopped them in the spring. Then, about a month ago with the guidance of his new ICM team and a new LA manager (who were making zero $ on his current deal), he once again said he wanted to leave and this time they negotiated the full package. "

True.

O'Reilly actually allows people with differing views on his show and they debate.

I've heard some of these "debates." That show is a sewer (admittedly one of the cleaner sewers on that network).

Plus O'Reilly's primetime show and even his late night repeat had more viewers than Olbermann did.

Big deal. Larry the Cable Guy has way, way, way more fans than Eugene Mirman. The Twilight sequel had many more viewers than Exit Through the Gift Shop. There are a lot of idiot Americans, and many of them get cable.

I don't watch cable news anymore, but I'm happy to hear this. Cenk Uyger is excellent. I've seen Olberman petty, vindictive and self-righteous more than enough to appreciate his departure.

I stopped watching when Olbermann became a Bizarro version of Rush Limbaugh.

ANd the appointment of Ed Schutz, hardly Mr. Conservative, indicates that whatever went on, Olbermann was not removed due to his political opinions.
And as for the guy who said Olbermann being fired is the End Of Democracy.....:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp

I'm kinda with ya on Keith, cornsail, it seemed like it was time for him to move on.

However, just an FYI, Cenk Uygur isn't taking the 8pm. slot, he's taking the 6pm. slot (Ed Shultz old time slot) ... Ed is moving to the 10pm. slot & Lawrence O'Donnell is moving to Keith's old 8pm. slot. Just wanted to clear that up in case you thought Cenk was Keith's replacement.

So, the new line-up should be (all eastern time):

5pm. Matthews
6pm. Uygur (hey look... a "non-white guy" for Deepatrax, He's Turkish :D)
7pm. Matthews (replay)
8pm. O'Donnell
9pm. Maddow
10pm. Shultz

PS. I wish Dylan Ratigan would get moved from 4pm. to prime-time. I like that guys show. Not sure why we need a double dose of Matthews every night. :boggled:

Maybe that argument would mean something if we were talking about TELEVISION CABLE CHANNEL LONGEVITY but we're discussing the meaning of why KO quit which hasn't really been revealed yet!

Yes, his ratings sucked, but it doesn't matter. Just because Fox News has higher ratings and is the most watched news source in America only goes to show that us Americans really don't understand the difference between real news and World Wrestling Federation tactical propaganda!

And think back 10 years, Trax, were you really concerned about ratings on TV then?

It looks like it'll be Cenk Uygur of 'The Young Turks' web TV show.

Sounds like a win-win-win for those involved. O'Donnell gets a better slot (deservedly so), Ed gets a better slot (whether he deserves it or not), and Cenk gets a huge break that could build a career.

The only move that excites me is O'Donnell being on early enough for me to care to watch it. Before he had his own show, I found myself only watching Olbermann when O'Donnell was filling in for him.

Ed is obnoxious and I'm pretty ambivalent about Cenk.

I wish I could see Cicero's face because he cannot come here and crow about it.
Hah, I was just thinking the same thing when I clicked on this thread.

I'm a fan of Cenk, but he can get a little over the top at times. I'm wondering if MSNBC and this time slot can handle his energy. I noticed a greatly subdued Cenk when he was filling in on MSNBC lately. How long can he hold back? Between him and Rachel, we will hopefully have some real investigative reporting for a change.

I was very enthusiastic about Keith for quite a while, but got very tired of his playing Beck and O'Reilly clips all the time, and seemingly endless Fox News references. He is an excellent writer and announcer, but he got stuck on his disdain for certain people to the extent that he seemed to become identified with these images.

So long *******. Unfortunately MSNBC just doesn't learn. They are elevating that loudmouth, red-faced nutcase Ed Schultz to the 10pm time slot.

I was hoping Pat Buchanan would take his time slot.

It's yet to be seen who will replace him at 6pm. One can only hope not another hour of Chris "I don't see race yet talk about it endlessly with insane theories...oh yeah I also hope Michelle divorces Barack so I can marry him" Matthews. If they pick someone with a modicum of talent his replacement at 6pm might also be his replacement at 10pm soon enough.

I think Chris Matthews hates being born White.
