Olbermann quits/is fired? Where's the thread?

Even if he did not say it (probably couldn't pronounce the words correctly) ...

Well, that crystallizes your argument right there.

Bush's silliness and evil overwhelms a misstatement about a phrase rather much by me.

And of course, this much better answers my question about K. O. than anyone could imagine ... which, I believe was the issue of my response. Classic case of diverting the issue --- your feelings over actual facts.

Yeah, your link says that the white house staff and the crew hung the banner but Bush had no knowledge of it and nothing to do with it.

Forgive me for not believing it.

OK, it's a free country ...

But just how willing are you to forgive those who don't agree with you? That same article shows that what President Bush said was very much in disagreement with the mission being over/accomplished. It also states that Bush disapproved of the banner. But I guess you overlooked those parts.

Nope. Argumentum ad populum requires an argumentum to go with the populum.

I didn't say "X is true because Olberduoche has a small fan club". I just said "Olberdouche has a small fan club, lol".

You implied that there are only TWO people in KO's fan base - meaning - you're inserting an argument of KO's popularity into this argument - I.E. Argumentum Ad Populum!!

careful now, if you keep this up...you might get called a "bigot".

;)

I don't watch cable news anymore, but I'm happy to hear this. Cenk Uyger is excellent. I've seen Olberman petty, vindictive and self-righteous more than enough to appreciate his departure.

And notice how totally they fail to sustain the equivalency. Honestly, this was the worst effort yet.

So, the worst person in the world wasn't vapid and malicious? Sure.

Once again, I'm baffled as to how the Right has gained the reputation for completely lacking a sense of humor and being incapable of grasping sarcasm. Where could that nasty reputation come from?

Subjective adjectives aside ... President George W. Bush never said "Mission Accomplished". How many times did Keithy make reference to the exact opposite?

Do you have a single clip of Keith Olbermann claiming that Bush said "Mission Accomplished?"

Because it wasn't a coincidental relationship:

Truly another nasty rumor without an obvious source.

It is amazing that the only way to defend Bush and his administration is to claim he was dumb and unaware of what was going on around him. When that's your defense, one wonders why you even try.

I have two examples:

1) When Keith constantly called the Tea Party "anti-government"...when in reality, the Tea Party is for smaller more efficient government. How can they be anti-government, when they ran and won political office!?

that's exactly why they are frauds. they run on "smaller, more honest government", but I bet these pricks will be the first to get charged with fraud, money-laundering, theft, and embezzlement.

When people first started circulating his on-air editorials I thought he came off as pompous and long-winded, like a more smug, less charming George Clooney who says "sir". Someone upthread called him "melodramatic." Comparing him to Bill O'Reilly is a stupid mistake.

American TV professional Punch & Judy blowhard loses job. Stay tuned for another one right after these messages.
If ever the expression 'meh' was appropriate, here it is.

True.

O'Reilly actually allows people with differing views on his show and they debate.

Olbermann never did...he just had like-minded Liberals on and they nodded and smiled at each other.

Plus O'Reilly's primetime show and even his late night repeat had more viewers than Olbermann did.

You don't know what SATIRE is?

Yeah, I do know what satire is. Pay attention to what Trane Wreck is suggesting. Think vapid. Think malicious. It's not satire. It's vapid and malicious, which was my response to the apt named Trane Wreck.

I'm not going to quote you Trane Wreck. I'm not a Republican and I'm pretty certain that I understand false equivalency better than you. You made a comment that was wrong. Deal with it. Heck, apologize for it. We all suffer from our confirmation biases. Deal with it, but admit it. We've lost a lost of right of center posters. Enough, frankly, to make me post more, but I pale in comparison to most of them. As a slightly leftish centrist, I have no hope, but do we really want the centrist Daily Koz here?

When viewed through a skewed Left-wing political view...yes I can see how you came to that conclusion

"Death panels"=complete lie.

"Anti-government" is a descriptive phrase that describes Tea Pary policies, like this one:

I do defend and believe that the government should not be involved with institutional racism or discrimination or segregation in schools, busing, all those things. But had I been there, there would have been some discussion over one of the titles of the civil rights.
http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2010/05/20/4313688-rand-paul-on-maddow-fallout-begins

Or how about this:

O’Donnell’s fellow primary winners this season include, in Nevada, Harry Reid’s opponent, Sharron Angle, who is in favor of eliminating the Department of Education and the Department of Energy; Joe Miller, the G.O.P. senatorial candidate in Alaska, who would outlaw abortion even in the case of rape or incest; and Carl Paladino, the businessman running for the governorship of New York, who is best known for forwarding off-color e-mails, and who would use eminent domain to prevent the construction of an Islamic community center—the so-called Ground Zero mosque.

I would call eliminating the Departments of Education and Energy "anti-government."

As for the racial make-up of the Tea Party:

79% of self-identified Tea Party supportes are White, the nation is 62% white.
http://www.southernstudies.org/2010/04/tax-week-whos-coming-to-the-tea-parties.html

So neither of your points are examples of lies as obvious and malicious as the "death panel" nonsense. You just don't like a couple of descriptive phrases, even though they're fairly accurate.

Goodbye, Keith. We'll miss you.
