Unsaviory
You think you're joking? Hear what Chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus had to say:
Reince Priebus??? Suuuurrre. Let's see HIS birth certificate!
You think you're joking? Hear what Chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus had to say:
It's a fake. Because they called black people "Negros" back then, not "Africans". C'mon sheeple, wake up.
(note that I actually had a discussion about a co-worker about this today. That was his reasoning that Obama is still hiding something)
I don't understand the objections to him releasing it. To me it's a timely and smart political move on his part. Many on the Right have been harping on and on about this nonsense and now it's been conclusively shown there's no reasonable basis to the questions. Those that continue to stoke the birther flames FURTHER marginalize themselves and their political aspirations. The rest wisely move on.This makes no sense. The Obama campaign complied with the request to provide a certified copy of his birth certificate before the election.
Do you mean why did it take so long for him to accede to the irrational demands of people making completely irrational and baseless allegations? Frankly, I'm still not sure why he bothered doing this at all.
Especially since, in the May 2001 announcement that photocopies of the long form were no longer to be issued, just computer-generated abstract short forms, the Director of the Department of Health at the time cited "statutory restrictions" as the reason for the change.

As the Director of Health for the State of Hawaii, I have the legal authority to approve the process by which copies of such records are made.
There is no law; never has been, that prevents release of the long-form birth certificate, and others besides Obama went and specifically requested copies of their's the previous month. Now Obama has.Back on topic and to the question of whether Obama had to go above the law to put his long-form birth certificate out there (and not just to access it)--there is an interpretation of the law that says he did.

I take this to mean that despite the fact that Obama was born in Hawaii, no evidence ever presented will ever be enough for you to accept it. In short, no evidence can change your mind.
Sad really.
There is no law; never has been, that prevents release of the long-form birth certificate, and others besides Obama went and specifically requested copies of their's the previous month.
Yea, the director said it wouldn't be there normal policy. He made that decision, but it's not a law, and when people gave a specific reason such as certain agencies requiring it, the State would do it. Their Homelands program would sometimes require it, for example.
Moreover, State law requires them to comply and provide a long-form birth certificate or a copy of any other legal document in their possession.
So I have an acquaintence on facebook that said the reason she doesn't question McCain's citizenship is because he has security clearance. I said that Obama has security clearance. She asked me if I'm sure...............
Wow.
And the punchline:"What I'm saying is I just have some questions," Berman said. "I'm not doubting that it's a truthful birth certificate but my questions still hold."
. . .
Along with a print-out of today's White House blog post, Berman also had with him on the floor of the Texas House another document: a purported copy of Obama's Kenyan birth certificate.
1st Reaction to White House Release of Long-Form Obama Birth Certificate: 28% Still Have Doubts, Including 10% Who Say It's a Forgery:
A SurveyUSA nationwide poll, including cell-phone and landline respondents, conducted after the White House 04/27/11 released a more detailed certificate showing the President's birth, shows that 71% of Americans who have seen the newly public "long-form" now are satisfied that the President was born in the United States. 18% of those who have seen the certificate still have doubts about where the President was born. Another 10% say the document released by the White House is a forgery.
Just say Obama was born in America, already.
