Obama appears on Daily Show. And..... meh

I loved parts of it...when Stewart couldn't get a word in, and Obama noticed it, Stewart pulled back and said...

"its just I love talking so much" or something to that effect.

Over all, I agree, not as funny as it could have been. Obama seized it as an opportunity to get his views through to a large, usually unavailable audience.

“(W)e’ve done things folks don’t even know about,” Obama said, struggling to expand his list.
“What have you done that we don’t know about? Are you planning a surprise party for us?” Stewart interjected.

“Is the difficulty that you have here the distance between what you ran on and what you delivered? You ran with such, if I may, audacity,” Stewart wondered. “Yet legislatively, it has seemed timid at times.”

After Obama pulled the old stumping rhetorical trick – “There’s a woman in New Hampshire today” – to personalize a policy change, Stewart responded with, “I was talking to a woman in the audience before the show. . . ” And then held his head in his hands for comic effect. Obama stared through him."

I think that was an inside joke. I took it to mean he really did talk with a woman in the audience and that she was a handful. Watch it again and see if you agree.

Obama was stumping....no doubt. He is smart enough to know whis target audience ,what they watch, and to take an opportunity when handed to him.

He could have done better with it though, all the same.

Added italics; it would seem apparently not, or he would have done so. Maybe he'll emigrate to Canada after 2012 and help you guys out, eh?

The man is rapidly becoming an embarrassment to the office of POTUS. :(

Oh come on. You guys just had Bush, and the same group of idiots that got him elected is now promoting SARAH.

Obama is heads and tails above those two. He is articulate, and if anything a little too professorial for the average guy to relate to I guess...what a crime.

TAM:rolleyes:

Edit: Oh and if Obama came to Canada, he would win in a land slide, and we would have him in a heart beat. That is a different thread.:D

T.A.M., I think you might be confusing "different from" with "better than".

ETA: And also possibly confusing "winning a Canadian election" with "being a good thing for Canada".

Why would Soros be funding this pro-marijuana movement? Does he plan to use the police resources that would be freed up by enforcing drug-laws to then spy on people and stuff?

In my opinion and in the opinion of others who saw it last night, he did well. I didn't ever think any sane person would expect magic tricks that would cure all the problems caused, in part, by the previous administration to disappear immediately.

I just think we now have a president who is better endowed with the brains and social conscience to solve the problems facing us that the previous one. Who was a

Could you move a little to the left please? Your shoulder is blocking the view of your monitor on camera two.

I read an article in the Washington Post summarizing the interview. Then I tried watching it and figured the article gave enough of the general gist.

I wonder if Republicans are pulling out their hair over Stewart's plea for reasonableness and sanity considering he is by their measure an out-and-out communist. Stewart (correctly) described Obama's health-care legislation as "timid," but jackass right-wingers have been thundering that he's taken over the whole sector, a fifth of the economy, blah blah blah.

Uhhhbama also looked small and says "you know" too much. I know that if I had to give an impromptu monologue I would "uhhh" too much, but he's the freaking president, which is still surreal considering in the 80s he was over in Occidental College smokin' weed and listening to ****** music.

lol What parallel universe do you live in where Obama's not better than Bush?
