Judge issues a gagging order against Trump https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/oct/03/trump-new-york-fraud-trial-update
Cool. For his next trick the Judge can walk out to the beach and try to piss the incoming tide back out.

He may not be able to stop it, but are there consequences? Do they have contempt of court in the USA?

Asked if he would testify in the case, Trump said: “Yes, I will. At the appropriate time I will be.”

Yeah we also have laws against ordering a Coup and bragging about committing sexual assault and everything else Trump did with no consequences.
The contempt order is just preventing Trump from posting about the judge and court employees.
Trump might comply, but continue to slag off his other cases' *other* judges and employees.
And the news media is doing it again, letting Dump suck all the air out of the room. He's milking this to suck the earned media and take away coverage of the rest of the primary field. Without searching, has anyone heard about any campaign events from the other candidates this week? Every time there's a break, he goes and makes a statement and all the press rush to cover him live like rats running to a food pellet.
It's not news that Trump is mad that he's being sued by New York State. Most defendants in most cases, civil and criminal are hacked off about it. You can cover the dumb ****'s trial without breaking live to his every utterance of displeasure.
Not sure of that part. The order said "his staff", and that may not include him.
Come join the crowd waiting for any of these judges to actually act. We're showing reruns at the moment. The odds that Trump will end up in pretrial confinement for one of his other criminal cases just went up. If Trump intimidates witnesses or court staff in this case, the Georgia or the DC judges might not wait for him to do it in their jurisdictions. If he's assessed to be a threat to public safety, they can remand Trump to custody. I don't think it will happen at the next hearing in DC but he's certainly closer to waiting in jail.
....Can Trump go to jail for defying an edict in a civil trial? Or will it just be "sanctions", whatever those turn out to be?
Its not necessarily a bad thing for the judge to issue such an order.Judge issues a gagging order against Trump https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/oct/03/trump-new-york-fraud-trial-update
Engoron has previously ruled him in contempt, fined Trump something like $100,000 and it was paid. Can Trump go to jail for defying an edict in a civil trial? Or will it just be "sanctions", whatever those turn out to be?
About the Trump Company getting to be run by a court appointed Stewart- given that the business model is fraud, forcing it to run lawfully is just a slow instead of quick death sentence for it
