Noose ladies suspended from California school

Breaking news:

Off-color, inside joke misunderstood by broad audience. Footage at 11.

I'm sure all kinds of gallows humor is passed among teachers at the beginning of the school year. Smart teachers don't document or pose for a photograph with a noose. Keep your "I wanna kill myself if I have to teach these little monsters one more year" jokes private among teachers and undocumented.

This isn't quite the "gotcha" that some here are trying to make it out to be. Teachers serve the public and should avoid the appearance of impropriety. Maintaining the confidence of the public is part of their job. If this wasn't meant as a racist joke, these people are incompetent.

New cel phone, apparently regards two errors as intentional and doesn't autocorrect. This bodes ill for those nights huddled drunk in an alley making poignant argumentative propositions, like calling posters stypyd mrrthre fookres and whatnot.
You *type* on your phone?
How quaint...

The former. It sounds like a fantastically bad idea one way or another.

I usually give the benefit of the doubt but it's hard to believe they weren't aware of the connotations.
That's kind of my problem here. It seems to me the only explanation for a whole group of teachers being clueless about the connotations of posting pictures of nooses (and remember the pictures show them holding a noose and a noose on a wall, not a noose on one of themselves), is that they are demonstrably incompetent.

It reminds me a little of that Toronto mayor a few years ago excusing his outrageous behavior because he was too drunk and stoned to appreciate it. An equivocal defense, one might think.

Sounds to me the the women involved were so pure at heart that they didn't even know that a "back to school necklace" even could have racial overtones.

I can see it. Forgetting the connotations, I mean. They work at an elementary school, with little racial strife (I imagine). The idea of a noose and lynching may have not crossed their minds for literally decades. Doesn't cross mine without a prodding.

They only get a pass if they have not followed the Smollett affair, of course.

Some people don't give a crap what some overly sensitive people think about them and they shouldn't have to. This stuff is out of control but then so is California.

If it's against the school rules or something like that then fine, but to leap to racism is ridiculous. Gawddamn I'm sick of these types of people.

Seems these days that those who proclaim themselves to be tolerant are actually the ones that are not.

While others bend over backwards to excuse disgraceful behaviour of idiots.
No bending over involved. It's just that racisim or other isims shouldn't nnecessarily be the first stop on the outrage express. Choo! choo! ALL ABOARD!
