Merged New telepathy test: which number did I write ?

... Amusingly perhaps, Loss Leader (who is usually in New York, I believe) seemed to emphasize more a strong telepathic effect than Terra Tourist.

Yes, but with one major caveat; the rest of us here were never in doubt that Loss Leader was joking.

Terra Tourist appears to be sincere, interested and willing to help. Perhaps you should request another experiment where Terra Tourist tries to guess a new number each day, to see if the results are better than chance.

My wife would like to thank everyone for her elaborate mother's day gift that I was able to afford with my "don't talk about Michel's telepathy" check which I received a few days ago from the <insert evil world government entity here>. Pretty sweet!

You forgot to circle the amount on the check at 10:00 Belgium Time, and transmit the number to the credible people here.

Perhaps another point for people who have not seen the prior Michel H threads: Sarcastic or humorous comments will not be seen as such, but will be treated seriously by him. Joking comments, denial of reception of any number, or even denying one's participation in the test will be interpreted later as participation in the test.

Michel H appears to be a very smart person and I do not believe that he is in any way not serious as to his view of his abilities. He has posted that he has internal voices that tell him to do bad things, include urging him to suicide, and that these are linked to his ability to project his thoughts to others. He fears that his thought projections can sometimes do bad things themselves. He has sought medical help (again as noted in his prior posts) but was not pleased with how this worked out in many cases.

I have come to like Michel H, and I would value his participation in threads beyond this theme. But please be aware of the above facts if you wish to participate in this thread. Thanks.

Worth repeating, it seems. Thanks, Giordano.

8 answers were given, but only one was correct, the one given by Terra Tourist, who correctly answered "1".

You should devise a series of tests with this individual wherein (now that you know him to be credible) you write down a number each night for a dozen nights and see how many he is able to guess. If he gets it right the third and ninth night but not any others, how will you explain it? Will you discern that when he is wrong he is lying to you but he occasionally has bursts of conscience and remorse and admits he's sensing your number, only to again deny it to himself and deliberately answer incorrectly? Will you discern that his 2-4 right answers are identical to chance?

Or maybe he'll go 12 for 12. Then you can really expand your testing with your trusted confidant - four digit numbers, words, playing cards, etc. When the evidence becomes undeniable, you two can participate in any one of several controlled tests to prove it to your doubters.

But I'm guessing you won't follow up with this person in the way suggested. Let's see if my guess turns out to be right - no hash code needed.

Why is this thread still alive? Michel H is schizophrenic by his own admission, and his belief in telepathy is a manifestation of this.

We've been over this enough times before, people. Just stop posting.

Because Michel H posted a 'new' same thread which was merged with the already existing one, responses will follow.
And it will happen again, a 'new' same thread, responses, a merge.

The point to me is, and I have not posted on this thread for a long time, is that Michel takes every response as some sort of "victory" for him.

What we really need to do is what was done about two, or maybe three of his polls ago, and go limp and not respond at all. Silence is the best response to this sort of stuff. (and yes, Michel will take my response as a win for him, because that seems to be the way his mind works)

I agree that silence is the best way forward. I also think it is an unrealistic proposition.
But if it could be done, it would be great.

Actually, when, in one of my tests, a person gives a good (and fairly brilliant) answer, it is frequently a "one-shot" thing. There is little reason to believe his/her answer will be correct again the next time. The only person who gave consistently above-average results (in telephone tests) was my mother, in 2002 I believe. But she has always refused to accept testing again.

Actually, I find your idea interesting. Not so much for doing tests with one specific person, but for the idea of doing a series of tests with a new number written down each night. I perhaps could also make a phone call to the "percipient" (the receiver") each night, ask for the number I had written down the previous night (or day), and provide feedback by telling the correct answer (I could also ask how confident the person is with respect to his/her number).

I would encourage you to embark upon that with someone you trust without delay.

It's not perfect. It's not even remotely within the range of scientific rigor. However, it's the closest you've ever gotten.

I believe it would be difficult for me to find a person that I (can) totally trust, but, if the kind volunteer is not totally dishonest in telepathy (a more realistic expectation, I suppose), some interesting results might perhaps be achieved. I am particularly interested in the distance effect: is telepathy between Brussels and Auckland (New Zealand) the same as telepathy between Brussels and Brussels?

If you know someone living in New Zealand or even in Australia who would be interested in (or even amused by) such a test, please let me know, I'd be grateful (the same thing is true for all posters of this forum, of course; I might report the results here). The method of communication could be simple e-mail, not necessarily telephone.

Such a work would basically be a mere extension of the online testing I have been doing on this forum and other forums, with the same good qualities of rigor and depth of analysis, which have already led to some appreciation:
Well this is certainly one of the most robustly controlled experiments I have encountered.
...

Congratulations on once again proving telepathy.

...You are the vanguard of the next Golden Age of psychic testing.

...
, to quote here a few comments from just this forum ;)

I can say in all honesty that yes, the distance effect of telepathy is exactly the same from 20 inches away as it is from 20,000 miles away.

Well, in view of the facts that
- the distance between Auckland (NZ) and Brussels is about 11,350 miles (link: http://www.mapcrow.info/Distance_between_Brussels_BE_and_Auckland_NZ.html),
and that
- half the circumference of the Earth is about 12440 miles (link: http://www.universetoday.com/66515/how-many-miles-around-the-earth/, plus a little calculation),
