Thirded.

C'mon, folks, I'm all for exposing charlatans, but having read through the thread, it's clear Michel is not an intentional charlatan or yanking chains, etc. His latest response displays the depth of his delusion. Serious mental illness at play here. Why not let the thread die instead of encouraging him? It's never going to get anywhere and it can only harm him.

OK. You are correct. No more from me.

Yes indeed. Michel H is smart and not a fraud or a troll. But he has certain beliefs that will not benefit from the usual sarcasm or even playing along that might be some posters' first reaction. Attempts to to participate in his prior "experiments" to "bring him around" to the facts as we see them have never helped nor are likely to- he interprets any result as a confirmation of his beliefs.

I do not wish to diagnose the source of Michel H's beliefs, as I am not in a position to do so and any attempt may well violate the MA in terms of making statements about a poster rather than a post. But I think it is fair to say that engaging in this sort of poll or in a repartee with Michel H has never helped to change his beliefs. He also takes almost all posts very seriously, so attempts at humor or sarcasm are unlikely to received as such. Participation does not seem productive or healthy to me.

For those who have been privileged enough to have read all of Michel H's many previous, (identical), announcements of his latest "test":

He has, in his own words, admitted to having serious mental issues.
To agree with some of the above posters... However well intentioned replies might be it is a pointless exercise to engage in any kind of debate with him.
Real world suggestions have been offered many times but they fall on deaf ears. Sarcasm and humour really don't work in this instance.

Somewhere in the Bible M.A. there is a guideline for dealing with the constant reposting of the same nonsense.
/paraphrase: Report it, then ignore it.

Is this what you did: reporting my thread to "authorities" of this forum, because you felt it was constant reposting of the same material?
Online telepathy tests do have a (somewhat) repetitive nature, because it's generally the only way to achieve statistical significance.
I can perhaps remind you of the following exchange:
Well, perhaps I can point out that my total number of posts on this forum is about the quarter of yours.
You could.
But surely I'd have received your thoughts about this already.
This was a nice admission of "my telepathy" wasn't it?

Quite the opposite, the way I (and the rest of the world) would read it.
Really? And how would "the rest of the world" read this answer by member "im" on Yahoo Answers:
Well, I nearly always know what you think, but then I'm an excellent observer and smart as a whip. ...
(the bolding is mine)
This was a reply to the question:
Do you sometimes have the odd impression of "knowing what I think" because of an unusual telepathy phenomenon?

My (first) name is Michel, I Iive near Brussels (Belgium). ...

"im" was an excellent member of Yahoo Answers, who had a total "best answer rate" of 93% when his account was closed.

Please, fagin:

I repeat, since this thread is rapidly filling with sarcasm and hecklers again:

Michel H is not an idiot or a fraud. He legitimately suffers from schizophrenia, and the manifestation of this is his belief that everyone in the world can hear his thoughts. Mockery, sarcasm, or even genuine skepticism are not helpful or wanted in this case. This is a man with genuine mental health issues, and participating in this thread in any capacity can only harm him.

Let this thread die.

Because as has already been mentioned, you are unable to grasp sarcasm, humour and just simply taking the piss.
You seem to have ignored my post #2386 above.

Which "truth" are you going to favor, fagin, the one that some members of this forum are (probably) fabricating (namely that I would be a deluded, mentally ill individual, who should take his medications), because it is pleasant, agreeable and comfortable to them, or the (apparently) "real truth", namely that (apparently) I am an involuntary "super-telepath", (a "truth") for which there seems to be evidence (see for example post #2386), or
I am hearing Michel H's thoughts. All of them.
...
or
... I do indeed have ESP, and know for a fact that he wrote 2!
.

Which attitude would be more in line with rigorous, generous, high class and open-minded skepticism, do you think?

I believe I have already mentioned I am (apparently) the victim of a very violent and painful psychological (apparently telepathic) persecution. So I don't rule out that people who say "let this thread die" actually have "something else" in mind.

I had a long conversation with a doctor in the Adult Psychiatry department of the Saint-Luc hospital (a large academic hospital near my home) in September, and he did not rule out I might be a victim of some telepathic phenomena after I talked about mysterious "voices in my head" who try to convince me of killing myself.

That sounds like schizophrenia.

If the doctor used the words "telepathic phenomena", find a new doctor.

Ahhhh, ok, this is surely schizophrenia.

You're half a step away from being like the MI5 guy.

Do you think there are messages on your TV directly aimed at you?

Have you ever suspected that you are being watched, perhaps through your TV?

Keep chasing treatment Michel, it will be worth it.

Hi, I invite you to participate in a simple telepathy test.

At about 5:00 p.m. on this Tuesday January 12 (Brussels, Belgium time), I wrote carefully one of the four numbers: "1", "2", "3", "4" on my sheet of paper, and I surrounded it with a circle. Then, I wrote it again twice.

I shall repeat this number (which was obtained using a random number generator) from time to time during this test and I ask you to write it here (if you think you know it, even with a doubt). You may also answer "I don't know". It might perhaps be useful also that you say how confident you are in your answer.

I also ask you (and I hope I am not asking for too much here)
- to say where you are (for example: "I am in New York", or "I am in London"; this may be important to me, because I want to study correlations between telepathy and distance), and
- to let me know what you think about the statement that I (Michel from near Brussels) have a tendency to communicate my thoughts extra-sensorially.

Thank you for participating.
I got only one answer equal to "1", "2", "3" or "4" so far, provided by CynicalSkeptic. I would to receive a few more. If you don't like to reveal your location, or to comment about my hypothetical "telepathicness", you may drop these parts and just give me a number.
A few previous good posts:
...
Let's look at it this way. Perhaps there is a physiological or genetic reason why you have telepathy. The next time you see you primary health care physician, be sure to mention that you have telepathy ...
I am hearing Michel H's thoughts. All of them.
...
... I do indeed have ESP, and know for a fact that he wrote 2!
Well this is certainly one of the most robustly controlled experiments I have encountered.
I am seeing a 4 very clearly. It's almost as though I had written it myself.
4

I know it. I'm absolutely sure. I feel it inside of me ...
Hurray.

Congratulations on once again proving telepathy.
...
Bravo. I salute you. ... You are the vanguard of the next Golden Age of psychic testing.
...
Once, again. Congratulations.
There have been many critical posts on this forum too, something that I regret.

And the thing you are incapable of understanding Michel is that all the posts you quoted are *sarcastic*, and thus are in fact not positive at all.

Im not sure what your inability to detect sarcasm means however. Id consult a doctor.

Correction of post #2395 (addition of the word "like",sorry about the error)

devnull, this post of yours is (in my opinion at least) a typical violation of Rule 12 of the Membership Agreement: "Address the argument, not the arguer." Having your opinion, claim or argument challenged, doubted or dismissed is not attacking the arguer.

I suspect you are making such an "ad hominem" attack simply because you don't like the posts quoted above, and because you are quite unable to demonstrate, by a careful examination of them, that they are really not serious and reliable. In other words, you are resorting to the lowest and meanest form of dialogue (accusing publicly the author of a post of being intellectually retarded or mentally ill; the "schizophrenic" accusations are similar) simply because you are desperately short of substantive argument.
Please give me a number, do something useful in this thread.
