New Prediction

Did anyone stockpile draft dogs just before the Olympics. Sure would be handy about now.

38 Hours and Counting Down 'til the end of the window of cataclysmic volcanic activity expires.

You guys getting ready for the aftermath? I'm in Tsunami country, so I'm shaking, let me tell you! Oh, wait... no, I'm stirring. That's because I'm making a chocolate cake. Sorry. False alarm.

Now, aren't you sorry you asked?

Sorry about the boring replies!

I, however, am most interested in your prediction, so here is what I will do ...

If your prediction comes true, then I will donate $50.00 to JREF in your name on 12 JUN 2013.

And if your prediction does not come true, then I will dontate $50.00 to JREF in my name on 12 JUN 2013.

I expect that it is quite reasonable to give your prediction a seven day window.

In either case, JREF will get $50.00 from me on 12 JUN 2013.

Thanks much and take care.

While there is still no volanic eruption as predicted by 'rcfieldz', however I will make sure to comply with the terms that I have listed above.

It's been at least a handful of days (5) since the prediction of a Biblically epic, historically destructive volcanic eruption, that would be spoken of in hushed voices for untold ages (Am I building it up too much?), and yet, here we are, still not speaking of it. When, exactly, will this officially be declared an epic fail non-event?

Not counting Crossbow's generous contribution to the JREF itself, of course.

A friend of mine got really, really angry at work, today. So angry, her coworkers were claiming "She blew up like a volcano not seen since Mount St. Helens!!"

If this is true, then it means rcfieldz's prediction might have been accurate, afterall!!

:jaw-dropp

I did not bring my link to reproduce initial Thread so please moderator you can merge this into appropriate thread...

Ok...There will be a huge volcano eruption in a few days not seen since Mount St Helens.

The clock has run out for all accepted definitions of "a few days". It has been 5.5 days (round that up to six days) since the prediction. There has been nothing even remotely approaching a world record, cataclysmic volcanic eruption in that time. A couple of minor fixxles, but nothing that made any news other than the local versions or on seismology/geology sites.

This is not an epic fail. It's just a typical fail like so many other wannabe prognosticators.

rcfieldz hasn't logged in since two days after his prediction, so he's probably hiding away in some deep volcano-proof shelter, convinced there's a mountain of ash and lava above him.

So give him a couple of days until he comes back up to the surface to check. :D

Still no eruption.

However, I will comply with the terms outlined above.

Thanks ... Great!

Still no eruption.

Thanks for the support of this website. I have enjoyed the short time that I have been able to add my 2 cents. Hope to add something that may be more well received. Thanks to all for their replies. A few days have passed. Maybe my time keeper will keep track of my site statistics. And my hits and misses, however they are taken.

I take this to mean at the same scale as the St Helens (1980) eruption, and larger than any other eruption since then.

This is, of course, impossible. St Helens had a VEI of 5, but Mount PinatuboWP erupted in 1991 with a VEI of 6.

Seismology

Well based on your observations... I had just made a event prediction that did not happen yet. Will it ever as you have described? Who knows? So you say it can not. A few days in a millenium is what? Or a natural occurrence like a volcano is predictable you say...

A few days in a millenium is somewhere between 48 and 120 hours.

You're welcome.
