His "Don't say Gay" bill is currently stalled

One state lawmaker does not want homosexuality brought up at all in schools.

Rep. Stacey Campfield said he believes the issue of homosexuality can be too complicated for young minds to understand. Campfield filed, the "Don't Say Gay" bill, which would essentially ban teachers from talking about the topic.

Now his latest brilliant idea, a cap of $600 on lottery winnings for poor people.

Under the proposed House Bill 818, anyone on Families First, food stamps, WIC, TennCare or any other state or federal economic or medical assistance due to being poor, would not be able to collect lottery prizes over $600. Any winnings above $600 would go back to the state as an unclaimed prize.

Stacey has been a bad boy again.

Campfield's most recent provocations include claiming that humans contracted AIDS through sexual contact with monkeys, that it's virtually impossible to contract AIDS through heterosexual sex, that gay men live an average of 24 years less than heterosexual men and that abortions cause breast cancer.

The funny part is that becasue of those statments, a local restaurant owner kicked him out of her business.

On Sunday, Campfield was asked to leave the Bistro at the Bijou restaurant on Gay Street.

"I asked him to leave the restaurant to take a stand for the gay community and to let him know what it feels like to be discriminated against," said Martha Boggs, the restaurant's owner.
