My new favorite (loony) politician.

My new favorite loonytunes politician is Tennessee state representative Stacey Campfield.

He is one of the reps that recently signed onto another Orly Taitz lawsuit over Obama's citizenship status.

His latest stunt, was to support a failed resolution for Tennessee to reject any federal stimulus money. The dems in the state house stated that they would be happy to withhold any funds from his district.

Stacey also recently made news for his introduction of 29 separate bills into the latest session. Among some of the gems in this list include a bill to issue death certificates for abortions, a bill to deny birth certificates to children of illegal aliens, a rather bizzare bill to record death certificates for stillborn babies which includes the provision that if the mother was unmarried, at the time of the birth, the father's name would not be entered on the certificate.

Then there is the bill to authorize military veterans to cary handguns on college campuses

There is the "porn tax" bill that taxes porn and escort services.

The only good thing is that this guy has been in office since '06 and has yet to get one of his bills passed.
 
Be nice if you ever mentioned some of the wackjob politicians on the Left. It's not like the Right has a monopoly on kookiness.

Well at least he doesn't profess belief in UFOs while running for president and then issuing weekly impeachment articles in congress.
 
Sorry, but I grew up behind the Orange Curtain and after years of B1-Bob (Dornan) in those formative years I have been rather desensitized to crazy politicians. I was actually sad to see him finally defeated. I knew that elections would just not be as much fun anymore.

Fortunately, the rest of the Tennessee legislature realized that this was a solution in search of a problem and passed on it.
 
In the very latest from Stacey, it seems he is being sued for something he wrote on his blog.

A Republican lawmaker in Tennessee is asking a judge to dismiss a $750,000 libel lawsuit on the basis that his blog is covered by legislative immunity.

The lawsuit filed by Roger Byrge, an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for the state House last year, alleges that Rep. Stacey Campfield of Knoxville falsely wrote on his blog in the weeks before the election that Byrge had been arrested several times on drug charges.

Byrge lost the race for the open House District 36 seat to Republican Chad Faulkner by 391 votes.

In a response to the lawsuit filed in Jacksboro, Campfield's attorney writes that the lawmaker's statements are "absolutely privileged" as part of his duties as a state representative.

Byrge's attorney responds that no such privilege exists, and that Campfield's blog post was defamatory and politically motivated.

But you are reasonably sane. ;)

Not to stereotype, but with the extended tours and such, there are a lot of emotionally damaged people coming out right now.

Think back to your military days. I'm sure you can think of a few of your fellow servicemen who you wouldn't want to see walking around with a concealed weapon.
 
Except for a surfer dude who passed through and temporarily stayed with us on Long Binh
a couple of times I have no problem with my unit (surfer dude was cool, just a mild bit "off" and sometimes high).
 
During a debate over a change to paternity law, Stacey made the folowing remarks to a female legislator:

Campfield: "Sherry, if I had sex with you, I wouldn't want to pay for your children."

"What did you say?" said Richardson. (Note: Rep. Sherry Jones is another member of the committee who had spoken against the bill.)

"If I had sex with you, I wouldn't necessarily want to have to pay for your children," replied Campfield. "If I were not the father, I don't think that would be appropriate."
