My experience with telekinesis

I disagree. I think a nice, clear video is a nice first step down the road to convincing skeptics. If it's a video that's full of shenanigans and camera tricks, etc., then it will do nothing. In either case, a video would give us more information about what might be going on. I encourage showerhead123 to videotape the phenomenon.

I encourage him to videotape too, but as far as convincing anyone that what ability he has is real, he's going to have to go farther. There'd be no way to verify that camera tricks weren't used. Hence the MDC is the way to go for this gent.

I can't believe he never tried using telekinesis to masturbate. Now that would be a useful skill!

That's cool. It initially sounded like you were saying that videotape was completely useless. Glad to know that you think it's useful. And you are, of course, completely correct when you say that videotape alone is insufficient as evidence for the MDC. But I think it's very useful when it comes to designing test protocols, etc..

Yea I know, I just kind of - recollected some memories and told them as if I were with a bunch of people or I don't know. I guess I get kind of excited talking about this stuff! But when it comes to making arguments or discussing things I'm a little more analytic - only because I've tried convincing myself all the things I saw, heard and read were fake and I've tried investigating different theories on why this stuff happens (does it?) (quantum?).
Only four posts in and you used the Q word. Rockin' :D You'll go far.

This could be the most important discovery in human history. No more sitting on your hand until it goes to sleep or giving some old slapper a tenner for a tawdry experience behind a skip. My god, the questions this raises. Do all people have this ability? Can it be used on other objects? Does masturbating another man with the power of my mind make me gay?

It makes you quantum gay.

As you can see showerhead123, people on this site are actually very enthusiastic about unexplained phenomena. They want to make certain that whatever the phenomena is, it is not a figment of their imagination or a "trick of the light". Thus they desire careful tests with tight practicals so that there can be no question about the validity of a positive result (or a negative one for that matter).

Many people interpret the constant demands for hard data as hostility but I assure you that the people on this forum would be as happy as anyone to see a test actually produce a positive result. They just want to make certain that everything is done perfectly.

Welcome to the forums.

It makes you quantum gay.

I thought that was when you were only gay for Scott Bakula?

As for the OP: prove it. Shouldn't be difficult if you can genuinely move objects with your mind.

.
All those on the forum with telekinetic powers, raise my hand.

You shouldn't joke about it. It's fascinating stuff this telekinesis. I started reading a book on it yesterday. I got to the end of the first page then I had to stop and think it over.

I've noticed in this thread many claims this can be explained conventionally. I don't doubt it, but I notice that there seem to be precious few posts that actually go into detail about what those conventional explanations may be. For example, someone here mentioned self-delusion, but gave no examples of just how they could be deluded. And other posts are just worthless mockery. I thought this would be a little more "educational" a forum given its name.

I might have made a bad joke, but it's not intended to mock the person who started the thread. I've had my fair share of odd experiences (including a fair number of hallucinations).
I would point out there's more to the E in the JREF than just explaining away every odd thing that comes along. Surely the more important and more robust thing to take away is in the process of finding the truth, not the solution, and finding out if something is physically real even if (as seems likely) one doesn't get a proper definitive answer for what happened.
