A number of sources are saying this.
Looks as though the Wisconsin fiasco might have been the breaking point.
Trump advisors were aghast as the town meeting, considering it amateur hour and thinking the whole million dollar check was a terrible idea. Paying people to vote infront of GOd and everybody was a horrible look.
What he did in PA was bad enough, this was such a carnival act it was repulsive. Here he was just saying "I can buy you".

Of course now he claiming he expected to lose.

"It’s like one of those strange situations where a seemingly small election would determine the fate of Western civilisation here," Musk said in a discussion on his social media platform X on Tuesday.
So much for Western civilization? Oh well, it had a good run.

And, even if true, you never, never say that out loud and in public.
It was an incredibly stupid move. And might have been the last straw. Now from al lI have read, almost of all Trump's political advisors want Musk to go, the sooner the better.
And he is beginning to make Trump look bad..the one unforgiveable sin in the Trump universe.

ANd Musk attempt to play kingmaker in Wisconsin failed; his attempts to buy a seat on the Wisconsin Superme Court for a right winger fail; the Dems win. I guess Musk antics did not impress
the Cheeseheads.
I honestly thought somebody photoshopped that giant cheese onto his head for a while. does anybody really believes he is a Green Bay Packers fan?

As a special government employee, Musk faces a strict 130-day cap on his service – probably expiring in late May if counted from the day of inauguration, despite earlier White House claims Musk was “here to stay”.

Administration insiders told Politico on Wednesday that Musk would indeed be stepping down from his lead role in the weeks to come.

But Musk called the reporting “fake news” and the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, on Wednesday said the Politico story was “garbage”.

“Elon Musk and President Trump have both publicly stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at Doge is complete,” she said.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Guardian’s request for comment.

Or a Milwaikee Brewers fan? Brewers fans wear htem too.
But it is sort of a "we can do it but no one not from Wisconsin can do it" thingk with the Cheesheads.
But congrats on them for humilating Musk.
I will root for the Brewers this season...except when they are playing the San Francisco Giants, of course.

Most people were legitimately unaware of just how cringey Elon Musk really is. He does okay when he's talking about pie-in-the-sky technology that none of his listeners really grasp critically, and when he's being guided by a good interviewer. The more spotlights you put on him, and the more he has to talk alone about things that other people clearly know better than he does, the more he comes across as an awkward poser.

The 130-day limit is a red herring—the Trump administration can simply gin up a new job description, title, and role if they wanted Musk to stay on. The play here is likely that a lot of the lawsuits enjoining DOGE specifically mention Musk. The administration might try to moot those lawsuits (and thereby extinguish all the restraining orders attached to them) by saying that Musk is no longer in the capacity that makes him a defendant.

I saw a part of a Musk interview, in which he was barely coherent. I mean, of course people can have peculiar mannerisms and all, but his jerky, stammering, rambling and slightly unhinged performance looked more to me as if he had been indulging in some kind of drug and unprepared for reality. I suppose that's about par for the course in the current administration, but I find it difficult to understand how anyone could consider him anything but a dangerous fool.

Though it might be misinterpreted as wishing something good on the Trump administration (which I don't) I hope Trump realizes what a disaster Musk has been, and, figuratively or literally or both, kicks him hard in the yarbles.

I hope Muskrat gets the first kick in...with a chainsaw.

Well, he is known to use cannabis and ketamine. I don't know if he indulges in anything else.

He has always been far less coherent than most people seemed to realize, but I think he's getting worse. As I wrote earlier (or may have just thought I wrote), people are finally seeing enough of Elon Musk all in one place to finally recognize that he's an unhinged weirdo. It doesn't help that he's out of his prior element in which he could at least do a Silicon Valley style technology pitch. But the notion that a tech-bro bully is automatically also a general-purpose genius seems to have run its course for Musk.

As stated, we know he indulges in cannabis and ketamine. But on the narrow subject of drug use, it could be the converse problem: perhaps he has previously relied on them to keep him on an even keel and is now finding they don't work as well. I have a friend who has cut back on his recreational cannabis use, and I have noticed him being less coherent now than when he was partaking of more.

But as long as we're speculating about cause, it could just be plain old stress. Musk's wierdness may be the cause of his ejection from the Trump inner circle, but that causation may be operating in reverse. Without Pres. Trump's legal protection, some of the things Musk has done can still get him into a lot of trouble for which he will be personally liable. Not that Musk can't afford good lawyers. But he can't necessarily count on a Trump pardon anymore.

Plus it has now been reported that Tesla stock is nearing the margin call price. Keep in mind that Musk's purchase of Twitter was financed using his Tesla stock as collateral. If that drops to a certain value, Musk's creditors can seize it and liquidate it to protect its value as collateral. And they can also foreclose on the loan. Musk is facing the very real possibility that he may lose controlling interest in both Twitter and Tesla, and the vast basis of his personal fortune. I think the stress of this may be affecting him as well.

I also consider him a bully, if that matters.

You can still disapprove of someone while acknowledging that in some cases they can act in their own self interest in a way that also has a broader benefit. If the Trump administration jettisons Elon Musk, then I think we'll all be better off having Musk somewhere he can't do as much damage to the rest of us. But there will always be more idiots and opportunists. Donald Trump is not a smart man, and he handles this by surrounding himself with sycophants and idiots who won't call him on his nonsense.

BTW, one of the first things they teach you in any good BUsiness Managment class is that surrounding yourself with sycophants and brownosers is just about the worst move you can make.

It might lead to six bankruptcies, 34 felony convictions, and bar on participating in certain business activities. So maybe a career in politics rather than business is the way to go.
