Apparently the brother of one of the speakers at the protest, who turned his gun in to a police officer after the first shots were fired so he wouldn't be seen as a threat himself.

Counterproductive too. Things like this are likely to make the police more aggressive.

But unfortunately not terribly surprising. If there is the perception that the police get away with murder and there is no justice, then some people after a while will act vigilant. Unfortunately with utmost certainty innocent police officer will have been targeted at random.

Apparently good guys with guns chickened out and turned them over to the cops when the shooting started instead of returning fire like the NRA says they were supposed to. What's the point of open carrying if you aren't gonna step up to the plate when **** goes down.

Did I miss something? Did a bystander with a gun take the shooter out?

How's the "see something say something" working out for you? Think the cops waste much time on false alarms? Is that black guy with the rifle slung over his shoulder going to shoot the cop that is mistakenly shooting at him or might he be risking get killed by some nervous rookie cop?

It was all of the cops in Dallas against an unknown number of shooters with rifles. Only a moron would want to be the only non-cop on the street brandishing a rifle or any other kind of gun.

Only if he's white. In Texas, any black person open carrying is fair game.

He was black but he may have turned himself in to keep from accidentally getting shot.

The shooter pulled up in an SUV, got out and started shooting. Two other guys are (maybe) being questioned who may have thrown a bag out of their car.
