Of course I doubt the intelligence agencies and the FBI. Not only is it a basic skeptical principle, it's also the intelligence services and the FBI.

But we're not even there yet. Right now I'm just asking you for the recorded "fact", in plain language.

It's super easy to project a high degree of confidence, with pronouncements like "it's a fact that they bought a ticket". But such pronouncements are good for projecting confidence, and not much else. They're rhetorical tools, not real information. I'm asking you for the thing itself: The fact that inspired your confident pronouncement.

Skepticism is one thing, willful ignorance is another. Putting your fingers in your ears and saying "no, no no no!" is not skepticism. This is the Republican mantra. Global Warming.... "no, no no no!" Evolution..."no, no no no!" Russian meddling.... "no, no no no!"

It's embarrassing. It's dishonest.

Here is the difference between the FBI and biologists....

Please provide me a copy of the recording.

Express
1a : directly, firmly, and explicitly stated
//my express orders

b : exact, precise

2a : designed for or adapted to its purpose

b : of a particular sort : specific
//for that express purpose
So you're all right, and all wrong.

Well, I think it's quite clear from context that definition 2b is in order.

Seriously, if someone hears a troll farm has an "express purpose", who's gonna really interpret that as meaning they announced their intentions to the entire world.

They're a troll farm; they're naturally covert.

Maybe other trolls? I hear they have back channels . . .

Which brings us back around to my original question. Now with Approved Terminology! How do you know what their specific purpose was, given that you know they never expressed it?

Actually, that's a brand new question, but at least you got the wording right this time.

It's like someone claims person X is a murderer, and one person asks, "When did person X say he's a murderer?" versus another one asking, "What evidence do you have that person X is a murderer?"

The latter is a legit question while the former is just...asinine. And if you don't want me picking on your choice of words then you should choose words that actually mean what you intend.

Anyway, your answer has already been provided. Indeed, I even provided an answer simultaneously when I pointed out your poor choice of words, which makes me wonder why you ever choose to contest my complaint with your language:

If you are under the impression that trolls generally admit they are trolling and will even tell you the purpose they have in mind for their trolling then I'm afraid you've been misinformed.

On the other hand, it is known that Putin operates a troll farm and it is known that Putin preferred Trump over Clinton. It shouldn't be too hard to figure things out from there.

You see, I even answered the question you intended to ask in the hope we could avoid the pointless "meanings of words" discussion....yet for some reason you chose to pursue the latter.

Are you under the impression that specific goals can't be determined from actions taken and results?

All these questions sure are cute, but when Putin directly says he wanted Trump to win you say we can't trust that. Now you say we can't trust that the Russian troll farm was acting the way 4 different US Intelligence Agencies have said they are because the troll farm didn't directly say what they were doing. So direct statements bad, lack of direct statements also bad. Presumably you'd prefer vague statements?

Its owner is a rich man not least thanks to the fact that he once was "Putin's cook"
Secret ingredient for special guests: dioxin.

which is the only connection of this whole blown-up nonsense to Putin.
Making the food for an authoritarian leader... I guess that doesn't sound at all like he was close.

He has more than enough playing money to try himself in internet marketing.
So it was not a "commercial marketing scheme' than? It was all a non-profit marketing scheme.

The guy has no reason to tell you or me or Saint Mueller anything about his customers (it though seems like this unprofessional operation with five digits budget has totally failed - the thing is history anyway as he abandoned it likely before you ever heard about it). He made that quite clear btw as you would know if you had read the very concise information about the known facts about the "troll factory" - known not least from Saint Mueller's symbolic indictment of the seven dwarfs behind the seven mountains thirteen trolls who will never show up at any US court - I kindly provided to you, instead of coming up with nonsense like your little "Putin is evil so he dunnit" cleverness with the "dioxin". With this behaviour you will in the long run not find someone more knowledgeable about a topic than yourself to help out with information you can learn from.

btw, Earthborn, please ask yourself why you did this:

Its owner is a rich man not least thanks to the fact that he once was "Putin's cook" (literally - not a code word for what your mind was just searching for)

Was it to show us what your mind was searching for? But why then did you cut out the part in brackets and then continued to pick on everything I wrote after them?

I see a part six of this thread is not too far away. I already request that it will be named "Mueller Investigation pt6 - The Mourning After". Thanks for your consideration.

A little premature, don't you think? I like "Mueller Investigation pt6 - Lowering the Barr."
