Y’all calling him a liar?

Fantastic.

My strong recommendation? Cut bait and run. The buzzfeed bombshell is bull ****.

You only have Mueller's word for it that there is a problem with the BuzzFeed article - and you never trusted Mueller in the past.
How do you know the investigation isn't lying in order to trick Trump?

****, I don’t have to take his word for it.

I only have to present the facts. The question y’all have to answer is who do YOU believe is lying?

Be better for the resistance if it was buzzfeed.

Big win for Trump already, which is why I helpfully suggested that you cut bait.

Although the whole mueller is lying suggestion is rock solid! Hee hee!

They say this. The White House says the whole thing is "categorically false".

Ah hell... I can't even be sure of the spelling of "counsel" any more.

Well, we can fairly safely ignore the White House, given that the Trump Administration has turned it into a fountain of frequently easily demonstrable disinformation, at last check.

And yes, that is a very, very terrible thing, to reiterate.

From Mueller spokesman (per CNN):

BuzzFeed's description of specific statements to the Special Councel's Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate.
- Peter Carr

This is about as weak as a refutation can be. It ends up leaving us at... "the Buzzfeed report should be taken with a grain of salt until more specific evidence is at hand." That moves us sooooo far away from "the Buzzfeed report should be taken with a grain of salt until more evidence is available."

Well that is a ******* boot in the head to buzzfeed, innit?

Lol

Gee yet another bombshell report getting slapped down.

NYT: manafort passes data to teh Russia! Correction, not Russia.

Buzzfeed: sources say Cohen’s testimony bombshell! Mueller: no.

Wonder why our President complains about fake news... fortunately the skeptics here were skeptical, right? Reads thread... oh dear....

Mmm. Your reading comprehension is as well developed as usual.

The way things are worded, I don't think anybody has to be lying.

I suppose the question that remains unanswered is - if this report is wrong that Trump directed Cohen to lie to Congress, then why did Cohen's sentencing memo say that Trump had directed Cohen to lie to Congress?

Remember it was Buzzfeed that released the totally discredited “Dossier,” paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats (as opposition research), on which the entire Russian probe is based! A very sad day for journalism, but a great day for our Country!

This is just the most egregious example of the rampant unfairness that has tainted this partisan witch-hunt from the beginning. The utter hatred for @realDonaldTrump has empowered a legion of back stabbers wielding flamboyant falsehoods to undermine @POTUS.

At what point in fairness-after 2 years do Americans of good will say enough already? If the #SpecialCounsel had collusion don’t you think we would have heard it by now? This is history’s longest running smear job. Free @realDonaldTrump Reflect. Negotiate. Open the government.

I posted the following in a different thread, but I probably should have posted it here instead....

Its worth noting what the SCO's statement says, and what it doesn't say...

“BuzzFeed’s descriptions of specific statements to the special counsel office and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony, are not accurate,”
It doesn't say that Buzzfeed is "wrong" or that the statements are "false" , it says they are "not-accurate"; that is a world of difference - typical Lawyerspeak.

If I say the USA launched 7 missions to the moon between 1969 and 1972, putting 14 men on the moon, that is not a false statement, its an inaccurate statement.

Chuck Rosenberg former acting head of the DEA and Chief of Staff to the Director of the FBI, says that

“The information provided by Cohen about the Moscow project sessions, is consistent with and corroborated by other information obtained in the course of the special counsel office’s investigation,”
“That’s Mueller’s own words, right. Saying what Cohen said about the Moscow project, the lies to Congress, others being involved, the fact that the Mueller team has corroborating information in their possession comes right from Mueller himself. I think that’s what really matters here.”
“What the Mueller team did made sense to me. The way they described it really in some ways buttresses the core of the BuzzFeed story. Now, obviously, the Mueller team is pushing back on aspects of the BuzzFeed story. I think in the main, what you can glean from their sentencing memorandum, the core of BuzzFeed story is accurate.”

You can see the interview and a summary of the transcript here...

To me, it seems that the Mueller team is a bit upset about the BuzzFeed article, since it messes up their timeline to reveal the case they got against Russia and the campaign.

By casting a bit of shade on the article, they are trying to discourage the publication of more leaked intel.

But the essence of the "Trump made Cohen lie to Congress" statement has already been on record for a while, only now it got some additional corroboration.

Remember that Cohen wasn't on Mueller's radar until Clifford/Avenatti put him there - he isn't a core part of Mueller's narrative of the 2016 election, and him mouthing off to Congress and the press shifts the focus away from the actual mandate of the probe.

The Buzzfeed thing is a buzz kill. I take some solace from the many damning news stories that Mueller has not smacked down.

That was my reaction too.

Mueller and his Angry Democrats must be up to something nefarious with a press release which gives comfort to Trump, given that their purpose in life is to bring him down (and, as a result, the nation, but what do they care about that?).

Doe it, perhaps, have something to do with Cohen's father-in-law?

And we're back to the Steele Dossier as the Keystone Domino.

That's easy enough: both Cohen and Trump lied about the Russian deal. And collusion.

Be better for the resistance if it was buzzfeed.
When a trumper calls someone a liar, should we take that as a compliment?

Lol, yeah, at this stage of the debacle, a "big win for Trump" is that Mueller may not have the documentary evidence that Buzzfeed claimed, that maybe Cohen lied just out of loyalty to his lying boss. If you aren't sick of "winning" yet, I predict you will be.

MSNBC compared the Buzzfeed brouhaha with a mistake Woodward and Bernstein made during their Watergate investigation. It was an error in attribution, that gave Nixon defenders ammo to attack their reporting in general.

Significant is that while Woodward and Bernstein considered this a dark day and a low point, the gist of what they reported was correct, and we all know how things worked out for Nixon.

There's also the fact that Cohen's sentencing statement implies that the false statements to Congress were "in accordance with Client 1's directives."

This could be the SCO making it clear the leak came from the SDNY.

Yes, the far more logical explanation is that Trump and his lawyer simply never got around to talking about his upcoming testimony to Congress about Trump's campaign. I mean, it probably wasn't a big deal to either of them, right?

Or if they did talk about it, no doubt Trump told Cohen to be honest and tell Congress that Trump had been lying everyone, but Cohen insisted on committing perjury against his client's wishes.

Trump was probably shocked to learn that Cohen had lied under oath to cover for him. So shocked, in fact, that he forgot to set the record straight. For fourteen months (and counting).

That makes much more sense than this crazy notion that Trump wanted Cohen's testimony to confirm what Trump had said publicly.

I would follow what the five thirty eight podcast said last week when the story broke....give it a weekend to see if anyone else can confirm it.
