It's reported here that he was asked to resign. Which is functionally the same as being fired.

"At your request, I'm submitting my resignation".........Session's resignation letter.

Sorry, but there is literally no downside here. Whatever irritation he has caused Trump was not worth having Sessions in charge of the Justice Department.

You are of course assuming Trump will actually better than Sessions (admittedly a low bar). Given the legacy of questionable nominations he has made, there is no guarantee he won't pick someone worse.

I'm not making that assumption at all. He could absolutely do worse. Given the givens, though, I consider it better to get rid of the known evil, especially since it's likely the only criterion Trump will use to find a replacement will be personal loyalty to Trump. It's therefore possible, perhaps even probable, that he will choose a true incompetent with no independent agenda. That would be a major upgrade from Sessions.
 
We all know Trump will use his new AG to try to stop or at least control the Mueller investigation.

Any predictions on when **** will hit the fan?

I'm not sure if he'll take quick action, say within the next week or two, or if he'll wait a while to let things cool before taking the next step

I wonder how many Democrats will now come out in support of Jeff Sessions. Remember Comey? Every leading Democrat was demanding his head because he released info about Hillary's investigation and yet after he was fired by Trump it seemed the same folks were outraged.

Their reaction to the Sessions news should be very telling.

They are coming out in support of process. Sessions respected thst by recusing.
 
So, I guess Trump is just going to do all his dirty work before January when he will have to deal with actual Congressional over sight?

Looks like Trump is rushing to kill the Mueller probe before Dems can vote on protective measures.
In other words: Massive Obstruction of Justice.
 
Whitaker has spoken critically of the Mueller investigation in the past, including using the words "witch hunt"

I suppose the question now is whether Trump/Whitaker will act against Mueller before the newly-elected Congress are able to pass a resolution protecting him. Also whether Whitaker will get information from Mueller and pass that on to Trump.

Earlier this year, we passed S.2644, the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act, out of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The bill would safeguard Robert Mueller’s investigation. Leader McConnell should bring the bill to the Senate floor as soon as possible​

I suspect empty rhetoric on the part of Flake.

While Flake occasionally criticizes Trump, he also usually lines up to vote for whatever nominees he puts forward, and he votes for bills like the republican Tax Cut and Health care bills.

Its easy for him to talk about bills like the "Special Counsel" act, but I doubt very much he would actually take action, even if McConnell takes the bill and uses it as toilet paper. Its just Flake's way of trying to whitewash the muck that the republicans have brought to politics.

Why? That one error doesn't make up the bulk of the thread and, as you pointed out, the correction to the error is in the thread itself, so anybody reading it isn't going to come away with a false impression.

wow, you actually posted words instead of just posting random tweets with zero comment. Here, that correction is at the bottom of a whole series of ******** and basically cuts the guts out of the thread.

Had you used some words, perhaps you could have alerted people to that rather than bitching about TBD having to do it?
