More same I can't believe in

I think if he would move a bit to the left of center and stop trying to compete for the right of center voters, Obama would likely find more enthusiastic support.

I can't help but notice similarities here to the Bush presidency.

People on the right recognize that Bush was trying to bend over backwards to reach across the isle and pander to moderate voters. And yet everyone on the left thought he was Hitler.

Obama is bending over backwards to pander to moderate / right of center voters.. and most on the right label him a complete socialist out to take over the country and destroy everything they hold dear.

I don't understand this rabid line of thinking, from either side. It's just so blindly ideological. I think both these Presidents have demonstrated that they are far from the extreme left/right wing nutjobs that they are painted to be.

I recall him garnering all that bi-partisan support for the tax cuts for the wealthy...oh wait. What's that you say, "Sunset"?

And yet everyone on the left thought he was Hitler.

Well, not quite Hitler. Bush only invaded and occupied two innocent countries, had he gone for the trifecta, and invaded Iran or North Korea, then maybe.

Remember "The Bush Doctrine"? I'd bet money that Sarah Pailin still has no clue what the hell that one is about...

"In what respect, Charlie"?

That's the problem I have with this administration and Obama. Instead of trying to appease everybody I wish he would be truly pragmatic and do what's best for this country. Pre-campaign Obama was for decriminalization but unfortunately he never campaigned on it and now the administration is seemingly trying to appeal to social conservatives who feel "marijuana is bad".

My problem with Obama is that the **** he is doing is mostly the same **** I was angry at Bush for doing. This suggests to me, not that Bush was really pandering to my left of center vote, but that neither one of them cares about the left of center.

Really?

Another problem with this nonsense of keeping marijuana illegal is people who want to smoke it have absolutely no problem finding it and will use it regardless if this measure passes or not. Just as they do now.

I love the weak excuses by Holder.

Holder said Thursday that California, by restricting the authority of state and local officers to seize marijuana, would interfere with efforts to "target drug traffickers who frequently distribute marijuana alongside cocaine and other controlled substances."

We know you're obsessed.
That's not what we're talking here.

interesting.

Does that surprise anyone? Twiddle Dum, Twiddle Dee politics.

The war on drugs has done little to combat the use of drugs, and has instead simply given the government enormous power that they would not have been easily able to attain otherwise.

So what methods of redress would California have if the feds insist on making big pot busts if prop 19 passes?

Would it really just come down to hoping the play on the stories nationally would spin their way up to the point where the feds are shamed down from their faux-moral pedestal?

So if this passes and California taxes it, could the governor be arrested as a drug lord?
