I believe today's show was in response to the letters Montel has received about Sylvia Browne. She wasn't "live' on the show. It was Montel taking a look back at shows with Sylvia over the past 16 years. What he did with today's show is pull up bits and pieces from previous episodes, predictions she's made, in what appeared to be an attempt to showcase her "hits".

Toward the end of the show Montel said, "as long as she's not slowing down, Sylvia has a place on the show whenever she wants."

Then it cut to a clip of Sylvia saying, "I have always said I will retire when I fall over dead on the stage. I don't want to ever retire. You see, in the middle of the word retire is tire - I don't want to do that. What would I do with myself, needlepoint all day. No, I couldn't stand that."

Montel ended the show with, "Well, let's get this straight. I want to make it very clear. Sylvia Browne is a very dear personal friend of mine and I've got to tell you, over the years it's been just a pleasure being able to work with her. I've said it on the show clearly, I don't believe in psychics, but guess what. I believe in Sylvia Browne. I believe in her ability to take her intuition and take it to places other people can never take theirs. As long as she wants to be here on the show, she can be here."

He had a very serious look on his face as though he really wanted to get the message across that it doesn't matter what people out here are trying to do to discredit SB, he'll always be there for her.

"I changed the nonsense into nonsense I could accept.

Does this mean she's leaving the show?

So she'll be off the show if she starts getting things right?

"I have always said I will retire when I fall over dead on the stage."
The proper question to ask a "psychic" is, "praytell, when will that be?"

Thanks for the info, ST. It seems clear that something is getting to her/them. Repeat after me, Sylvia: "I welcome my new bearded overlord...."

Awesome! I feel like cheering! :)

That's Montel standard schpiel whenever anyone asks him about The Claws: "I've always said that I don't believe in psychics- I believe in Sylvia Browne. What she has is intuition. And I've never had any psychic except Sylvia on the show".

He repeats it like a mantra; the same exact quote every time through the years.

Ditto for that bit of audience coaching he gives before the show. He repeats the same spin throughout alot of the episodes. "What do I always say? Listen to what Sylvia says!", "What did you come out all the way here for if you already knew the answer?", "People say all the time that even if you thought something was wrong, it'll turn out to have been right".

Right. Like that's why Sylvia's readings don't ring true for her clients.

Sounds like an article responding to this may be in order.

And all these years, I thought that "tire" was at the end of "retire."

I guess it's one of those things you learn while obtaining a Master's Degree in English Lit.

The real question for Montel is what other demostrable con-people is he willing to put his name and reputation behind? Would he back someone who bilks old people of their life savings in real-estate or magazine scams? How about fake doctors? How about people who just stick you up on the street and take your money? If not those, than he should be pressed to demonstrate how Sylvia is different than they are...and he should begin by answering the question about all of the lies Sylvia has told about herself...prove just one thing maybe...her Masters Degree in English.

In short, can he show/has he shown that anythign Robert has laid out to be false? If the answer is no, he is aiding and abetting a con-artist as bad as many who go to jail.

I know you can find a way to articulate this better than I....perhaps mentioning "she is a close, personal friend of mine" in respect to how it relates to his complete unwillingness to objectively answer her critics. Or even invite them on his show.

Yo, Montel, do you have any other close, personal friends we can be subjected to? Or are they too honest and honorable to claim abilities they don't have?

RSL, your message is hitting home.

A good question. One I doubt he will ever answer.

It's already on my list of points.

Is it me, or are there fewer new episodes being taped?
It seems that way to me as well, but I am not certain.

RSL, your message is hitting home.

Indeed, it is hard to imagine Montel having to defend Sylvia like this had Robert not spearheaded the effort to expose her for the fraud she is...she's been doing the show for years. Robert has been up a year now? Montel steps forward to defend her. A coincidence, I think not.

He, and Syl, are worried.

Thanks Robert!

And he shall ever be a complete and utter jerk*** lay off the pot bro its starting to cause u problems and while you are at it Grow up

Remind me never to be drinking soda while reading RSL's responses.... I now have quite a mess to clean up as I laughed and spewed it across the room!
