There is a more sinister way of looking at it, as I just realized. Trump's spokeswoman said that the regime wants the investigation to finsish swiftly and "with integrity".

Does McCabe's statement mean that the FBI will do the right thing, or is he "Trump's man" who will preside over a flurry of "little fish" arrests then call it "victory" and not investigate further?

That would require an uncharacteristic level of sophistication from the Trump team.

As we've seen with Comey's firing, even with a (flimsy, but holding) excuse and a (reluctant, but cooperative) patsy, such that all Trump had to do was keep his big mouth shut for a few news cycles, hardly 24 hours went by before Trump blew the cover story to insist that firing Comey was his own decision, HIS, regardless of what reasons this patsy is giving you.

Yep. Exactly how much respect has Toupee Fiasco shown towards career government workers lately, or at any point? I seriously cannot recall any point where he used them as anything more than props, at the very best, and outright enemies at the worst. Comey has made big mistakes, but he's nowhere near as bad as the president and his clown cabal have been.

J. Edgar Hoover was director of the FBI for many years. That pretty much disproves any assertion that the agency will "do the right thing."

I think that Comey may have made some mistakes, but I think that he also did what he thought he ought to do. I think he's an honorable man and that the apparent mishandling of the Clinton issue would cause me some concern, but I wouldn't lose all confidence in the man.
