The checksum is still exactly the same on my computer too. There is no voice in Alderbank's "silence" recording. It's either pareidolia or a hallucination if flaccon is hearing voices. Those are the only two explanations. Unless of course the spirits suddenly start changing their rules once again and send the goalposts on one of their perpetual dances.

clearly the spirits don't do sums, so there's nothing to check :p
 
If this continues it will progress from flaccon's laptop being special to flaccon herself being the key element.

ETA: I never got a definitive answer to this but I believe this is where we are heading. Flaccon will declare herself the spiritual key.

You could take rock samples and dissolve them in acid to see what mineral content they are made of (simply boil away the saturated solution and see what crystals are left behind), you could test their height by taking an altimeter up there and setting local air pressure, you could use a mass spectrometer to chemically analyse the mountain's composition or you could ask it what it's name is and what comes after 9. :boxedin:

If you've read the rest of the thread you will know that flaccon and scrappy do not use the word "test" in the same way as people with their feet on the ground, i.e. rationalists like most of us here.

To them, testing is simply fiddling about and seeing if "the spirits" make any messaging intimations. So when they were testing the mountain they were looking for clues from the spirits, walking into the unknown and waiting for revelations.

That's what I was blathering on about a few posts up. :p
 
I once climbed Snowden on a bright sunny day, it was a great experience. Shame the spirits couldn't organise good weather, or anything else, for flaccon and scrappy's visit.
