It's hard to be sure from what little flaccon has told us,
That is the nub of the issue. I would bet money that the letter from the GP to the bishop, if it exists, does not say what flaccon claims it says, and that flaccon us furiously dodging the notion of posting it up because she knows this at some level.

I'd be willing to bet a nickel that the gist of the letter is:
"Flaccon is hearing suggestions of voices in noises, and this is very disturbing to her.
Her health otherwise appears good. Can you help her in dealing with this?"

or "Flaccon hears noise suggestive of words and has been haunted by this for some time. I see this as more a spiritual matter than a medical one."

...which is what flaccon herself claims the letter said. I reckon you win your nickel

It's been a long time since I was a newbie. I saw someone say the other day that a new member only gets access to the private message (PM) system when they hit 50 posts. Could someone confirm?

Also, scrappy might not know what you meant by "PM".

Well, he did PM me once prior. He sent me flaccon's email address so I could send her the files. No matter, though. He did recently send PM with his own email, and the files have been sent his way.

Initially you get a small allowance, perhaps 5 PMs (total in and out). This increases to 250, quite possibly at 50 posts

We don't actually know that this is what this purported letter actually said, so no nickel is won yet.
Let's have a look at the actual (purported) letter.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I asked this;

Would you care to share the contents of the letter you received from your GP (I understand if you don't)?

How about uploading a couple of the audio clips to your site to allow independent assessment?

Waaaaaay back here and all I got was this in reply. If you can identify how it answers my request then do let me know!

I gave the letter to the Bishop, he still couldn't help at that point. I'm real sorry but I doubt I would take the risk of uploading anything now. The spirits express hurt/feelings like us. I don't know but I don't think there is an "us & them" I heard my old friend speak to me, clearly. I called him up and played the recording via landline, he heard this. This is the sort of stuff I'm tying to work out.. how did that happen? (Rhotorical question)

Clearly it didn't answer your request. The whole discussion with flaccon has been like that, evasion and obfuscation, with scrappy as well.

If that letter from this GP actually exists, it'd be the only thing tangible and real that flaccon has to show for whatever situation she is in.
In spite of flaccon not answering your earlier request, and if the letter from the GP actually exists, I'd still want flaccon to show this letter.

This was in response to bluesjnr asking about uploading audioclips:

You're mistaken. Flaccon responded to this request:

Would you care to share the contents of the letter you received from your GP (I understand if you don't)?

And her response was:

ETA: I can't help but notice you deleted the portion that disagreed with your conclusion.

ETA2: Okay, I see now what you mean. Confusing at best, but you do have a point. I'll move on.

As with most of flaccon's responses, it's difficult to be sure what she's referring to. The spirits hurt feelings could be because the letter was ignored, or because we were suggesting they were just audio pareidolia, so the reluctance to upload could refer to either the letter, the audio files, or even both.

I doubt we'll ever know Pixel42, everything is illusive. Just when you think you have one thread grasped, you find several more of them all going in different directions.

Your post was actually a good answer to bluesjnr's question:
.If you can identify how it answers my request then do let me know!

My own reply:

was wrong in the sense that flaccon at least did respond to the request, but right in the sense that she did not honor the request (sharing the contents of the purported GP's letter). :)

Bluesjnr did not ask her to upload the letter, but to share the contents of the letter.

However, you're quite right, flaccon might still state it was taken as such, or anything else she'd need it to be at any time.

If it had been addressed to the local bishop, wouldn't it have said "My Lord" or "Right Reverend Sir"?

But then I see it was "aimed at" the bishop. Perhaps it was made into a paper aeroplane. That might also explain why it is tricky to scan.

Well played, sir!

...
I'm not entirely certain how to address a bishop, and it will vary depending on his seniority and whether or not he is a member of the House of Lords.

According to Crockford's, the clerical directory, this is the style:

http://www.crockford.org.uk/standard.asp?id=116

Can't really blame the GP for going with 'to whom it may concern'.

Thanks for putting the E into JREF.

Flaccon's account here of the letter and what she wrote on her web site do not quite agree. In this thread, she said she gave the letter to the bishop. That carried the implication she sent the physical letter, perhaps her only copy, to the bishop.

At the web site, she wrote:

After the appointment, Dr C agreed I should "keep the ball rolling" and agreed to write me a letter "To whom it may concern.." explaining his take on the evidence. Considering he had guidelines to follow, his letter and it's content, gave me some hope for when I next approached the Bishop via email.

God give me strength! I wrote to Bishop P the next day, explaining the Priest in Nottingham, the Dr's appointment's, and the letter "To whom it may concern."

Email. And not including a copy of it, either, but explaining it.

Although there is a great deal open to interpretation and spinning in arbitrary directions, I have trouble accepting the two separate accounts as describing the same event.
