Led Zeppelin backwards messages?

When I was studying psychology many years ago, one of our lecturers replicated some of the well-known subliminal perception experiments, designing his experiments very carefully, and didn't get any significant results. He couldn't get the papers he wrote accepted for publication anywhere, editors don't like experiments with non-significant results. Those views might have changed, subsequently. I might ask him about it.

With a little bit of suggestion, you will hear wonderful things. :)

It might sound better backwards. It couldn't sound any worse.

I have had my copy of the White Album since 1969 and I have listened to about the first two minutes of Revolution#9 exactly once.I shudder to think what the whole thing sounds like.

Why bother with backward masking? A lot of metal bands have been very open about their Satanism. For example, this song by Deathspell Omega, Sola Fide I, is basically a prayer to Satan.

Here are part of the lyrics from the first verse:

If you listen to it backwards, it says "Christ has risen!".

Ugh. For more fun there was the whole woo 'reverse-speech' crap that made its way up the ranks of the Art Bell crowd about a decade ago. That was not my idea of a good time, especially when it looked like they might convince a judge or two that it was a reliable lie detector. Thankfully the major proponent of it went ultra crazy and it fell from woo-grace.

My all-time personal favorite experience of this kind of thing was when the wife of a Baptist ministry student told me in all earnestness that if you played Jimi Hendrix records backwards they told you to use drugs.

If anyone told me they spent their time playing Jimmi Hendrix albums backwards I would assume they were already using drugs.

Not sure if this is an urban legend, but anyway: Supposedly, Angus Young of AC/DC was once asked about backmasked satanic messages in their songs. He was pretty pissed of, saying that if you wanted to find such messages in their songs, you don't have to play them backwards, silly :D

I particularly like when they say "If we were going to put subliminal messages in, it'd be something like Buy More Judas Priest Records".

I remember watching a documentary about this and that was my favourite bit as well. I thought the guys from Priest handled themselves extremely well.

I am envious. I never had the chance to see him live. Good show or disappointing?

The 1970 show was at The Isle Of Wight festival.he wasn't at his best, but it was still Hendrix.I've never seen or heard anything like the concert I saw in 1967.
