I had to wait a year but that was because my wife was pregnant at the time. I don't think the Church means to be cruel they are just arrogantly and thoughtlessly cruel. Could you imagine if the Catholic Church had a policy that non-Catholics couldn't witness the ceremony. Then again, the Catholic Church isn't the true Church is it. It's amazing the BS one can justify if one is convinced that their belief is righteous.

That policy is one of the worst and dumbest of the Mormon Church. That and no freedom of conscience. And to the apologists, I'm sorry, freedom of conscience is not possible without the freedom to speak one's mind. The Soviet Dissident, Natan Sharansky, documents that fact well in The Case For Democracy. Backbiting or speaking ill of leaders is an important feature of any healthy society. Had Brigham Young not ruled with such an iron fist and closed mouths he might not gotten away with his ugly and racist remarks.

This thread is to present and explain LDS beliefs, teachings and doctrines, not to abuse and denigrate them. No one has, or is, being forced to participate in this LDS thread.
 
This forum is for the examination and critical discussion of all ideas and beliefs. No one has been, or is being, forced to participate in this forum.

Those whose preconceived ideas and prejudices lead them to scorn and ridicule can never receive understanding nor meaning, nor will the Spirit of the Lord abide with them nor open their mind to understanding and knowledge.

But this forum is a public place, Janadele, not your personal website. All ideas are fair game for criticism, no matter what the idea is or how much value it holds for any particular Forum member. After the initial skeptical reception, why continue to post the material when it didn't receive an uncritical reaction?

But your beliefs are factually incorrect. It's a bit like ignoring an elephant in the room to not point out the errors in what you believe.

Those whose ability to look at the evidence with an open mind leads them to identify and dismiss frauds don't need to "receive" understanding or meaning, as they can obtain it for themselves.

If you had any such knowledge or insight I should think you'd be correct about things every now and again. As is, your knowledge if failing to impress.

How can we find understanding and meaning if good god doesn't open our minds to understanding and meaning?
Does he want us to stay in ignorance? Will he punish us later because of it?
