Kamala Harris Election Campaign

Yes, yes we get it. Minority skin colors should be represented so long as they subscribe to the majority's Correct Thought. Majority skin colors that dissent from your Correct Thought should have no voice or protection in your "liberal democracy". Let alone be the government from time to time.

PLAY FREEBIRD!

They aren't even close. It's not even in the ballpark between the two parties. It's laughable that you "centrists" keep equating the two as if it's not a false equivalence that's been pointed to "centrists" repeatedly for the last 8 years.

People with extreme right biases tell me that the leftists are the ones who are ******* it all up and want to destroy democracy. People with extreme left biases tell me that the rightists are the ones who are ******* it all up and want to destroy democracy.

I will 100% keep both-side-ing the crap out of this, because I end up hearing almost identical accusations and schpiels from both sides. And both sides insist that their beliefs and opinions are factual, their interpretation of ambiguous information is completely accurate and incontrovertible, and that the other side is always lying about everything. Both. Sides.

You can't see it because you believe what your side tells you. It's a matter of faith. They can't see it because they believe what their side tells them. It's a matter of faith.

I have no faith, and I think both sides are full of **** and suck at their jobs for entirely different reasons.

And yet, only one 'side' stormed the Capitol to disrupt the orderly transfer of power following a national election, to overturn the result.

I commend you on your exceptional critical thinking skills and your shrewd application of them. Using this same method, after being told by one person that 1+1=2 and told by another person that 1+1=broccoli, I had no choice but to conclude that math is an incomprehensible mystery.

The constitution was written by people who, mistakenly, thought that elected officials would not have any bad actors or a signficant number of bad actors.

I agree. There was a code of being gentlemanly.
These were people who said, OK, you two guys can try to kill each other with firearms, but there will be rules which must be followed.

That’s why they thought that losers would politely step down after an election. The alternative would bring more shame than any cultured man could bear. They did not understand that one day a man-boy would step forward
and say “shame, honor, self-sacrifice? I don’t know the meaning of those words.”

No big deal, though; I'm sure there's no way that could ever be the same side that keeps fantasizing about excuses for political violence all the time and is behind pretty much all of the actual political violence in the country... or the same side that picked a candidate who openly says he wants to suspend the Constitution for him... or the same side that picked a candidate who keeps talking about having his political opponents locked up and/or killed while perpetually expanding the definition of those opponents to include anybody who ever even said anything mildly bad about him, or the same side that all of the country's Nazi-idolizers gravitate into and picked a candidate whose latest policy proposal is a cross between Kristallnacht and a famous horror movie series... or the same side that's openly published a hundreds-of-pages plan for how to eliminate all resistance within the government and turn the country into a single-party country... the Principle Of Sameness means each of those things must have come from its own separate party, never the same party twice!

Have you tried being better informed? Putting more thought into the position you are taking and how you articulate it?

Have you tried being civil?

Being ill informed is uncivil. Spreading disinformation is uncivil.

I'm going to say this, repeat it, scream into people's faces until they get it.

BEING WRONG IS UNCIVIL.

Ms. Van Winkle, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Brace yourself, much has happened while you and Rip were snoozing. The party formerly known as the GOP morphed into a fascist personality cult called MAGA and attempted to overthrow democracy. Like actually. Not just anonymous bozos with extreme biases, but the entire GOP power structure.

Your post might be the most perfectly distilled example of fact-free Both Sides Syndrome I've ever seen here. That's no small accomplishment.

This is one of the key factors the Post Factors want us to live in and we cannot let them.

Person A: Calmly and 'civilly' keeps repeating proven falsehoods over and over.
Person B: Gets the tiniest bit frustrated with them.
Person A: Stops the discourse to demand we throw ourselves up on the cross for our "uncivility."

**** that. **** every version of that.

As others have said this is top notch critical thinking skills the likes we've never seen here before.

I, on the other hand, would like to personally thank you for showing that people who suffer from "bothsideism" posses zero personal skills that provide one with the ability to differentiate between the severity of the actions of the two parties.

It makes a lot of sense when I see someone lay it out in text. If someone tells you two things, it's beyond your comprehension to judge them based on how extreme, truthful or based in reality those things are.

I've never seen a more fantastic own goal in my entire ******* life. *chef's kiss*

I don't like your scream. There is nothing wrong about being wrong. Other than being wrong.
Unless it's deliberate or one doesn't care about getting it right. I'm a big believer that people need to stop being ashamed about their mistakes. Unless they refuse to acknowledge them. .

Dood, the fact they refuse to acknowledge their lies is the entire point joemorgue is making (I think, he'll correct me if needed). When do you see Trump, or a MAGA, or a rightie acknowledge their mistake, admit it was a mistake, and apologize? His point is that it is deliberate. Trump lies on purpose, knowing it's a lie. Look at the documents coming out in the election fraud case. He knew he was full of ****, he knew he was a ******* liar, and so did his people. They didn't care. They lied anyway. Most of his lawyers have been sanctioned in some form, and a few disbarred. They apologized only when they were faced with severe consequences.

Of course that was my point, which is why I didn't bother responding.

"Okay but what if the admit they are wrong and grow and change?"

Oh I don't know, the first time that ever happens I'll worry about it. Until then in the context of political discourse with Trumpers, my "Being wrong is uncivil" statement stands.

No, I get it. In context Joe was right on. I understand his frustration of Emily's brazen doubling down on being wrong. As if being committed to being a dishonest interlocutor is a badge of honor. As long as one doesn't waver from the cause.
