Smelling fishy
I only have the WiFi version. Didn't see the point of 3G. I am unlikely to download a book from anywhere but home.
I got the 3G, and with it I've taken to posting interesting passages from books I'm reading to my Facebook.

Thanks.I'm going to try to forget about it so it's a surprise when it arrives.

Looks mouldy to me...
(not at all jealous)
They just announced an ad-supported WiFi Kindle for $114.
Oh that's cool.

You know what else has mold? Grapes! especially sour ones
Zooterkin, that's a lovely case!
Interesting; looks like it's US-only for the moment, and the ads are only on the screen saver and at the bottom of the screen when reading, so supposedly not too intrusive. They just announced an ad-supported WiFi Kindle for $114.

My understanding is that they are at the bottom of your homepage rather than the bottom of the screen when you are reading a book.
Special offers and sponsored screensavers display on the Kindle screensaver and on the bottom of the home screen—they don't interrupt reading.
Kindle with Special Offers & Sponsored Screensavers is only available in the U.S.
Kindles (and the other big eInk readers like Nook) are already loss leaders intended to sell digital books. Expecting them to be much cheaper than they already are is probably unrealistic. For example, a look at Newegg finds that the Sony eInk reader sells for $180 and doesn't match up with the Kindle 3 on technical specifications. Granted, Sony isn't known for great bargains, but one would think they'd try harder to compete if they could.I see that.
I don't think the price difference between that one and the $139 model is large enough. They should have broken the $100 barrier. That would sell a bunch more.
