Julian Assange: rapist or not?

Read both links - unsubstantiated rubbish displaying complete ignorance of Swedish law as explained many times in this thread
It's not about totally unproven accusations, on which Julian Assange has never been charged, on which the Swedes refuse to interview him via video link from London, on which the Swedes refuse to send their police officers to London to question him, on which the Swedes refuse to give an undertaking that if they choose to make him face questioning in the future on these matters (which could easily be cleared up in London) that the Swedes will not extradite him to the USA.

Once again - read this http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/david-allen-green/2012/09/assange-and-legal-myths

You must have made a mistake because there are no hyperlinks in those posts that would convince an ordinary human being that the victims are intelligence assets.

So Ecuador is now setting their hopes that a new Labour government in 2015 (lol) will set him free. What a bunch of stupid #$%*($%! Yeah I'm sure a new Labour government is going to be *********** ecstatic about supporting that! Only about a quarter of Britons supported them giving him asylum back in October, before all of these new docs and Khan calling him a cult leader, 16% of women! Yeah Labour is going to be all over that... Ecuador stands as good a chance of that happening as that drunk homeless guy stood with that model girl on the subway he was trying to seduce tonight.

So.... how did you go? :)

Starting at the 51:00 mark in the talk, Lindskog addresses the theory that facing trial in Sweden will mean extradition to the USA, and almost dismisses it.

“Extradition is permitted provided the offence for which extradition is requested is equivalent to a crime punishable under Swedish law by imprisonment of at least one year,” Lindskog says. “Thus, extradition requires firstly an offence punishable under the law of both countries – dual criminality – and secondly that the offence is of a certain degree of seriousness.”

Lindskog also says “extradition may not be granted for military or political offences” and explains that Swedish law won’t permit extradition if the subject of such a request is likely to experience persecution or “is serious in any other respects” or "is contrary to fundamental humanitarian principles”.

“We have some specifics when it comes to extradition to the United States,” Lindskog added, including prohibitions on extradition for political or military acts.

So...if he truly fears extradition to the US, then Sweden is probably the safest place for him to be.

Imagine Assnage was a member here? He'd report every post against him, claim the mods were conspiring against him, then get banned by being a perv and being two-faced about it. At least one member already fits that almost exact description....

Do tell
Is it like Assange's inability to understand that 'no' means 'no'? Or something along those lines? Perhaps he isn't as clever as he thinks or has some short term memory problems. Perhaps he thinks the law doesn't relate to him? But please, do elaborate.

I just believe that the two victims, and the many friends, former cowokers etc at all telling the truth, and the one guy is lying see the gibney doc plus many of my last 30 or so posts in this thread for more. Plus some people like to make sick jokes for some reason, can't help it,

Like I consider random sexist blather to be a sign of a sick mind... right? Abortion pills that are really sugar pills, accusing anyone of disagreeing with you being in love with you right?

Possibly relevant to the assertion that Assange would be vulnerable to extradition to the US in Sweden:

Woman indicted in Cuba spy case is in Sweden and out of U.S. reach

By Jim Popkin, Friday, April 26, 9:30 AM

The Justice Department on Thursday announced the indictment of a former State Department employee for allegedly spying on behalf of Cuba, but it is unable to arrest her because she lives in Sweden, a country that does not extradite citizens accused of espionage.

Marta Rita Velazquez, 55, a graduate of Princeton University and Georgetown University Law School, was indicted nearly a decade ago on charges of conspiracy to commit espionage. Velazquez lives in Stockholm and is aware of the charges against her, the Justice Department said. But the extradition treaty between the United States and Sweden does not allow extradition for spying.

“Espionage is considered a ‘political offense’ that, therefore, falls outside the scope of Sweden’s extradition treaty,” said Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd. Swedish officials declined to comment on the announcement of the indictment.

Assange, of course, has not been indicted for anything in the US that I am aware of, and even if he were, it would seem to fall under the category of a ‘political offense’.
